Maybe they stupidly thought our fanbase wasn't full of cry babies?

I mean not liking the appointment is one thing but carrying on like some have before a ball has even been kicked and putting up offensive banners etc is hilariously stupid.

Can sort of understand Chelsea fans doing it mid season when they had the pick of some of the worlds best managers but come on whos available at present?

Howe?
Dunc?
Potter?
Nuno?

What is your point here though?

You are right, it is incredibly stupid of them to think there were not "cry babies" as you put it in our fanbase.

You being OK with it does not make the problem go away does it?

Your opinion on this does not make it any less of a fact that they exist. This is what some people are not grasping.

Your opinion works in an alternative reality where none of this exists. A lovely utopia were peoples strong opinions to not matter.

You can not just ignore a major problem that is there and hope it will be OK.

For the record I would have any of the four you mentioned over Benitez as none of them would be as divisive as this appointment would be.

The fanbase isn't full of crybabies though. The number who wanted Ancelotti out proves that, because thankfully it was an extremely small minority.

In fact our fanbase are way too accepting of the utter rubbish that has been served up in recent years. It just wouldn't be accepted at any of the clubs above us who we are trying to compete with. We are a very patient bunch truth be told. Most of us are just tired following Everton.

I agree with that but I dont have sympathy as they are only acting up as Benitez has LFC connections.

If we appointed Eddie Howe do people think we would be sending him threats? Absolutely no chance YET he's a worse manager than Benitez.

Why haven't the fans protested over Brands wasting hundreds of millions on tat?

Why haven't the fans chased Kenwright out of town?

I was marching with the Blue Union as a young squaddie and saw Evertonians look down at their own fans trying to bring positive change and instead back Kenwright who was destroying the club to which we are still recovering from now and still haven't gotten rid of him completely.

No sympathy.

Disgraceful to threaten Benitez's family.

Honestly just relegate us. We need a massive reset and maybe relegation will finally convince Moshiri to hire proper football people and let them do their jobs, and not hire out-of-touch knobheads. Or preferably, to sell the team and cut his losses.

If I woke up tomorrow and bought the club, I'd fire every single person on the football side and look to move out all but a few players. There's something severely diseased about this club at the moment. We need a massive purge.

Potter, Nuno, Galtier, Gallardo, Amorim, Kovac, Favre, Fonseca, Conceicao and about 100 others.

If you want our next manager to be a dinosaur and like tedious 19th century football, here is Steve Bruce. Has achieved exactly the same with Newcastle as FSW, didn't fail in China, hasn't been unemployed for a long time, is not detested by majority of Everton fans, is not that fat, is not a kopite knobhead and looks a decent chap.

You are not telling me Everton can't find a manager of Steve Bruce quality?

I think, perhaps the last 15 months of Everton, Pandemic and all the uncertainty is coming to a head both in here and in other apsects of life, there seems to be so much anger and ansgt around, simple things are triggering people on both sides of the fence and those in the middle.

perhaps its time to reflect on what is important?

When we see how the behaviour of a few can really set off the many, the Hancock thing is a great example, showing real frailties in human behaviours and just how much of an impact lies, deceit, "them and us, culture" etc etc can really set off a perfect storm.

People predicted the fume level in here days ago, probably weeks ago, I don't want him and wont support him(FSW that is) but death threats are not the norm of society, they are an exception, often carried out by those emotive souls where rationale escapes them momentarily or longer and those that do see through these threats are very very much the exception but what we see is a reaction to an emotive subject perhaps heightened due to what has happened over the last year or so!

its very sad when you get blue on blue and "banter" when jocular is all good, after all a sense of humour is what sees us through most of the time but when we turn on each other, they win and that is not where we want to be.

anyway thats my rather worthless tuppence worth of opinion.

The reality is that in the current context, to a lot of people, football just isn't that important. Clearly, however, for some people it has become more important during lockdown. Maybe they feel they have lost a community or a central plank of their social lives and it's spilling over. There is a lot of righteous indignation in here, from all points of view (and including from me, I'm very much opposed to Benitez signing) and the insult slinging is making this forum unpleasant at the moment, which I hope will pass. None of that excuses making veiled threats to Benitez. I still don't want him anywhere near this club, however.
