The Everton board decided Benitez was the right candidate after a difficult recruitment process in which the first choice, ex-manager David Moyes, opted to stay at West Ham United, and the club had second thoughts about Nuno Espirito Santo. At one point Nuno thought the job was his, but that was always pending further discussions with other candidates.

Oh yes. We've all been saddled with Benitez, the cowards released the news during the England game, and they started the whole process hoping to appoint Moyes, WHO TURNED US DOWN.

Any self-respect we have left just got flushed.

But thats why its best fans dont run the club mate as we are blinded by emotion for better or worse!

….but as we agreed, Benitez is a ‘safe’ appointment. Surely they could’ve found plenty of ‘safe’ options rather than select somebody so divisive to the fan base.

Its a political statement. i think it’s the end of Kenwright era, especially if Duncan Ferguson is demoted/sacked.
