Are Barkley was a true blue, didn't stop him dicking the club around.

He was going to a "bigger" club though. Smith probably sees us as a sidestep (he's wrong like) and wouldn't leave the club he loves to do that I would assume.

The news of Carlo supposedly having a clause in his contract to leave for big club's makes me wary of having another big name manager. I doubt any would consider us without having one inserted and would just take the fat wage and leave as soon as a ESL club came calling.

Give me a manager with something to prove and willing to grow with the club, not ditch it as soon as something more appealing comes along

Agree we are absolutely desperate for a coach to stay for two or three seasons and build something here.

Dean Smith is nothing modern or exciting, just a british manager punching above his weight who's been amazingly backed by his 2 billionaire owners.

Fair point although Carlo wasn't our fault but yes the deeper issue is the way the club is run. Watching that video shows you the obsession with big name managers rather than a coach who will fit us. For me Potter's teams play some nice football but he hasn't achieved enough for me. I think we need a manager who will play high octane, pressing football whoever that is....Someone who can get results and build and develop us our Poch, /Rogers.. Potter may be a good manager I just don't see enough evidence that he wouldn't be a Silva yet.
