I thought by “we were ambitious with Carlo” you were implying that we were ambitious while he was here.
You're talking about two totally separate things there. It was an ambitious appointment and would have continued to be had he stayed. The fact you didn't like the style of play has zero relevance.

Appointing Ancelotti in itself was an ambitious appointment. Appointing Ancelotti and expecting him to get a tune out of the players we had wasn't particularly ambitious, in fact it was pretty nonsensical. There's no point in us getting a Conte or whatever and not giving them the tools they need to succeed, we'd be much better getting someone who actually has some sort of track record of improving teams. Just getting a big name for the sake of them being a big name is not ambitious at all, it's actually the definition of small time.
Totally agree with that. But that's to do with the strategy after appointing a manager.

We don't need an elite, tittle winning manager who wins but does not create. We need someone who has a proven record of taking underachieving teams and making them punch above their weight.

I’d find it easier to take your opinions seriously if you weren’t an oddball with a long history of hating on popular ex players in order to be different. Actually that’s a lie, I wouldn’t take anyone seriously who honestly believes Duncan Ferguson is the reason we are crap.
"Popular" - I think your massively overstating the case here.

What's worse - Getting progressively worse after 4 games or 143 games?

Best quality coach we've had since Kendall.

I’d say that all the evidence points to this squad of players being firmly mid table standard.

Everton ‘ready three-year contract’ for Nuno Espirito Santo as talks progress

Nuno Espirito Santo could find a new home in the Premier League with Everton, who are reportedly preparing an offer to appoint the former Wolves boss as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor

We had ambition with Carlo and half the fan base did nothing but cry about style and identity.

I take issue with this. Yes the club had ambition with Carlo but hey, look what he did?

"half the fan base did nothing but cry about style and identity". We were absolutely dreadful to watch. Where that come from be it Ancelotti, the coaching, or the players themselves, the football most of the time was awful.

You cannot lay the blame on Everton fans. For the players we had and the manager we had, that's one forgetable season. Just a handful of decent results and good goals; nothing more.
