I think he would have left after he finished his caretaker role, but for the fact it was Ancelotti.
I think he knew then he needed to get out and gain experience, but he probably couldn’t pass up the chance of working with Carlo.
I don’t see him being here next season, I think he knows if he ever wants to manage us he needs to get out and manage.

I am very surprised Unsworth has never done the same.
I also confess I admire Barton for doing just that. it takes a lot of self belief to take the reigns at a lower club on your own. Its about the only good thing I can think of about Barton.

That Christophe Gaultier guy, seems that have done a fine job with St Etienne and Lille. Something tells me we should take a punt on him. Graham Potter did a great job with Ostersund in Sweden, and he's done very well at Brighton. I would worry that the Everton job could be too big for him though. It's a big decision choosing Ancelottis successor. Thank god i'm not the one making it!

It’s a massive appointment. Like the sound of Galtier but time will tell what new adventure/nightmare awaits!

Thing is some people are happy being coaches in the same way that some teachers never want to be headteacher.
It pays them X amount, its pretty secure, they dont have to do media appearances, there is less hassel. If you are already fairly comfortable why upset the apple cart

If he isn't worth it for them then he isn't worth it for us. Painful lack of ambition in that potential appointment!

I think I agree mate. It was more a tongue in cheek post, about adding another name to the list of underwhelming candidates.

I do get why so many would feel disappointed if you went for Potter. I don't think you will anyway. To be honest I'm gobsmacked at some of the names being bandied about. There's no vacant managers' job anywhere in club football that can match Everton for the rewards that success would bring for an ambitious coach, in terms of prestige and reputation. And the real sweetener is that you've got a v.good squad already in place. I'd love to see you usurp the Reds, I really hope you get someone who can do that for the club.

I understand the logic but being worried that the job is too big for Graham Potter, but not worried about a foreigner with no expereince of working in England.
For me they are all risky. I am over the foreign manager, not in a brexit way, more in a cultural way. A foreign manager will either get sacked for being unsuccessful or leave for bigger job if they are successful. Potter is more likely to be a long term appointment.

Oh my god he's Alan Partridge, not even joking he cannot be allowed to manage this club

I have no idea why people knock this fella so much. The job he did there was outstanding. 4th tier to the top division. Took them into europe for the first time in their history and i was reading up about when they took on galatasary and beat them. The 2nd leg was in turkey and the galatasary chairman thought there was going to be a riot at the final whistle. The galatasary fans applauded them off the pitch because of the football they played. The galatasary chairman said that was the first time EVER thats happened.
He may or may not be for Everton. But he's a very forward thinking innovative coach.
Some of the comments about him are pure ignorance.

Whoever gets the manager's job, he must have a good working knowledge of the Everton system. Perhaps then he could explain it to Everton..........................................................................:dodgy:
