Congratulations to our new owners on solving the manager issue so quickly and efficiently.

Not what they would have hoped to be doing a month into taking over.

I’m sure 99% of Evertonians would not have chosen Moyes, but due to the position we are in and the morale of the players after the Burnley Mike Bassett had cowardly admitted he wasn’t up to the job, I’m sure our options weren’t as plentiful as some may think.

onward and upwards for a better second half of the season and the end of amateur league football tactics.

I've been paying to watch football long enough to know that people remember winning games long after they've forgotten how we played on the day. I remember so many moments going absolutely mental with mates and family when we scored and won games. I couldn't tell you what the style was like or how we played for most of them. I want to see Everton win and nothing else. I couldn't care less how we get there.
I’ve been going since the 60’s
Missed 5 home games in the last 50years
I’ve been privileged to see great Everton teams play great football and win multiple trophies.
I’m very lucky to have experienced that.
I’ve seen three great Everton teams who played magnificent football.
But the last 30 years have been forgettable.
Good football brings rewards , success and more money via sponsorship, merchandise, tv appearance money , to sustain that success.
No one sponsors or wishes to be associated with second rate product.
Every season the majority of teams survive in any league , but only one is crowned the best .
Survival isn’t success .

I feel like this is nothing to do with ambition. We are not in the right place to get someone like Mourinho. They'd require a more stable environment, with lots of player investment etc. I think we are still pretty hampered by FFP so will need someone with experience that can steady things for now, until we are in a position to take the next step.
It just seems like a blinkered approach like the only options were Potter and Moyes.
When Moyes arrived at Everton 20 odd years ago he was a young ambitious manager but over time Kenwright ground him down using him as a shield to deflect from his own inadequacies as a chairman. Most of the 11 years were grim under Moyes with a few highlights and by the time he left most of us were glad to see him go.
There is a misconception that he is a safe pair of hands and will lead us to safety but there is nothing in his CV since leaving us to suggest that will be the case . Even at the club that he finally picked up a trophy they couldn't get him out the door quick enough.
I will be behind him hoping he succeeds and really hope I am wrong but his first interview since taking the job he talked of 11 successful years he had at Everton well I must have missed them as I only remember 11 years of winning nothing.

Yeah well congratulations on seeing good football in your time. I wish I could say the same. All I've seen in the 33 years I've had a season ticket is grabge and endless talk of better times. Good football bringing rewards sounds nice in theory but in 2025 its almost a detriment if you don't have the dosh to back it up. I agree that survival will never be a substitute for success but personally I don't think sacrificing the limited moments of fun and joy we get following the club all for a fantasy of playing exciting togger when the reality is that just means getting battered all the time. That's just what we've got now but with a bow on it.

Fair enough , but sport is meant to be aspirational.
I go always in the hope that better days and better football are around the corner.
The appointment of Dour Davey means that we haven’t reached that corner yet .
It’s likely to be another three years before hope makes another appearance.
And I’m running out of time 🤣

Great posts above. Well-balanced. One stating TFG did what they thought was best and another who’s seen decades and knows our glory and knows surviving is not succeeding.

I’m cautiously optimistic we’re in the last stages of passing off mediocrity as good and gaslighting the fans. Older fans know better.

And these last stages might take a few seasons because you can’t undo decades of problems overnight. Going from where we are to top 5 in a season isn’t success if we don’t change the culture and we haven’t planned on how to sustain it.

You need to rebuild so the bare minimum expectation is what our motto says. NSNO is not just some saying. It has to mean everything to everyone. It’s a mindset we’ve binned somewhere and now it’s time to give it light again 💙
