For the past couple of years, I've shared my view that this summer - a summer under new owners at Bramley Moore, will be our most important in Premier League era.

An opportunity for a rebuild, and lightning bolt through the club.

But I'm struggling to understand who will be responsible for that recruitment.

As in, ultimately responsible.

Is it TFG centralised structure/wider hierarchy?

Or is it localised?

Is it Moyes?

Why is a CEO, bringing in a transfer consultant with him from Leeds? The very fact press are reporting it's not a direct replacement for Thelwell says a lot.

So far, I'm thinking it's my own lack of understanding, but it would be nice to have a clearer picture soon on who is making the decisions on which footballers are coming in.
I think it's important to keep a little mystery in our lives

Just sit back and enjoy the ride

I was thinking exactly the same. If Thelwell had been kept on it would be pretty straightforward, but there’s various appointments being made and it’s not entirely clear who is doing what.

Read this earlier, which puts a bit more flesh on the bones. Not sure how reliable Graeme Bailey is, but he seems to think Hammond will be the main driver of recruitment and not Moyes although Moyes will be “asked his opinion”.

“ Hammond’s Everton switch is all but sealed

“He’s going to be in charge of transfers. He’s going to be a big part of it, Hammond will be leading. He’ll be the lead on Everton transfers, along with the other group going in there even though David Moyes is there,”

“I’m told it’s going to be a very much a European-based model the Friedkins will adopt and go with. Obviously, he’ll converse with Moyes and ask his opinion, but it’s not going to be like when Moyes was previously at Everton”.

I’d be far more happier with this approach than Moyes being in charge of recruitment. As always, we’ll have to be patient to see how it all plays out. It’s intriguing if nothing else.

I’ve been really impressed with TFG assembling an experienced board and quietly going about their business so far (the proof will be in the pudding of course!). It really amplifies how crazy the whole Moshiri/Usmanov takeover was, like what the hell was the point in them owning us when they kept BK as chairman with his clueless cronies on the board. Anyway, I’m just glad we seem to be behaving like a serious club for once and really hope the new ground is a catalyst for a ‘New Everton’ during TFG’s stewardship!

You won’t have to wait long - if it goes well someone will take the credit, if it goes poorly someone will get the blame.

Completely agree, as much as I don’t particularly love the DoF model it is good in the sense that it’s them on the chopping block if recruitment goes tits up. With this rumoured model it sounds like there could be 4/5 people all with differing opinions who will then all blame each other if things go wrong. Hopefully we get more clarity in the coming weeks as I do think removing the DoF role is TFG’s only misstep so far.

The description of "board observer" is a bit vague.

It's my biggest concern at the moment. Kinnear not officially in place until June and any others potentially not here until at least then if not later.

All of that is too late to run an effective transfer window even if the changes are necessary.

At present the transfer committee appears to be Moyes, Moyes, and Moyes. Obviously there is scouting and reporting fed upwards but it does seem a bit haphazard without knowing more.

Kinnear apparently bringing his mates in from Leeds is not a good look either.
😂 why?
