Do we think they would ever consider changing our name to make us far more marketable? E.g. Liverpool Blues

I'm dead against this, but they probably couldn't careless about doing this if it helps their bottom line. It's a very yank thing to do.

The thing is, the name Liverpool has multiple meanings and is quite hard to uniquely market. It has lots of things linked to it, the football club, the city, the council (in the 80s), the Beatles, the Cavern club, the slave trade, trade union militancy, the Port etc. From a strictly marketing perspective, Everton is more unique to market, so I'm not sure what it would entirely gain.

If we were going down that route, you would probably change our name to Everton-the Liverpool originals or something naff like that.

….yep, I imagine this is different to yesterdays addition, a very wealthy sportsman looking to put some of his $ somewhere.
Is a few in the league now Michael B. Jordan, lebron ect. Is still so much more work they can do id love see improvements on the media team get better communication with us fans. Then well better merchandise just hope will keep adding to the board so we can really take advantage

Let’s be honest, 99% of us don’t have a clue how this is going to end up do we? There’ll be a good reason why they’ve brought him in & we’ll have to see how it pans out over the mid-long term.

I’d have Robert Mugabe, Alan Sugar & Stalin on the board if it meant Everton were successful and making a lot of money.

I can imagine the reaction if that came to pass.

Yes, but I see no reason why we, as long-suffering Everton fans, need reminding on an hourly basis that we are a million miles away from being where we want to be.

We should look forward, embrace the new dawn, support the team?

I dunno, maybe im just old school.
This.

I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt and want Everton to do well, hence I initially supported moshiri, kenwright et al and also wanted Martinez, Koeman, allardyce, silva, Benitez, Dyche or whoever was managing us to do well.

I also don’t see the point in looking for negatives or problems when there aren’t any yet.

Let see what they do and assess then, give them a chance to fail at least ffs.

Everton Football Club is delighted to announce a further addition to the Club’s ownership group.

Jason Kidd, the Head Coach of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, has joined Roundhouse Capital Holdings, part of The Friedkin Group.

Kidd, a 10-time NBA All-Star, is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation. As a player, he won the 2011 NBA Championship with the Dallas Mavericks and was a two-time Olympic gold medal winner with the U.S. national team in 2000 and 2008. As a Head Coach, he had spells at the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Mavericks in 2021 and leading them to the Western Conference Championship in 2024.

Jason Kidd said: “I’m honoured to be joining Everton’s ownership at such an important moment: with a new stadium on the horizon and a bright future ahead, it’s a great moment to come on board.”

Everton Executive Chairman Marc Watts said: “On behalf of The Friedkin Group and the Everton Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Jason to our ownership group.

“As one of the NBA’s greatest players and now a successful coach, his knowledge and winning mentality will be an incredible resource for Everton.

“He is a respected leader and household name for many sports fans and will bring a deeper understanding of high performance as we collectively strive to build a brighter future for this storied club.”
Sorry , never heard of him .

What does he bring to the table ? Money or sporting advice / insight?

I can imagine the reaction if that came to pass.

To be honest, if you have a unique name, you generally wouldn't want to dilute that brand.

It's why most brands are called quite obscure things, and don't have common things like big cities in them.

Apple wouldn't be the same if it was like Apple Detroit or whatever.
