New Everton Stadium Discussion

Not really.
This stadium remains an expensive mistake that could blight our future for many years to come, regardless of its architectural significance.

If we stay where we are how are we supposed to compete? The stadium brings in revenue streams we don't have access to at Goodison. Of course would have been better to have the KD stadium for way less money but that's gone. In 10 to 20 years our stadium might cost double what it was now. Heck it went up 50% in the couple of years we built it. Inflation will make it more affordable and we will see more of the benefit. Staying at Goodison while other clubs pull ahead of us commercially is a recipe for us dropping down the leagues in these times of PSR.

Apparently, due to the euros, we are going to increase capacity by c10k quite quickly.

So we’ll be >60k within 2 years of moving.

We are struggling to pay for what we have let alone whack an extension on that a) would be more expensive than cooking it into the build beforehand and b) would struggle to be ready in time for the euros anyhow. There is also a c) that for the extra 7k GA increase it doesn't make financial sense as the income the seats generate would take so many years to payback the £100m to expand.

We may get safe standing increases but these would add hundreds to the capacity up to a maximum of a couple of thousand come the end.

The Kings Dock debacle will be seen as the moment Everton’s future was terminally damaged.
This stadium is the right idea at the wrong time.
It only worked as long as we had an owner willing to absorb the cost or at least to defray it.
Simply , we cannot afford it without an owner to underwrite it.
Too much stadium with too little money and too late in our story.

There is never a right time to lay out £750 million. In your world it just would never be built.

It’s to do with rail seating rather than normal
Seating rather than extending. Them across the park are introducing rail seating for the 24-25 season in the kop

That's fine but we are still getting way less than 60k. Even if you said the whole South lower had 6k rail seats and we were going to a 1:1.3 it will yield a 1800 increase. The 1.3 ratio is unlikely to happen with the first 5 years imho.

I’m literally just quoting something that came from the vid.

I don’t think the expansion would cost anywhere near 100m tbh.

Any increases that don't involve just standing ratios would require the roof to be dismantled along the east stand and a new tier adding. Not unlike city's extension, the first of which took place in 2014 and cost £50 million (remember a goal stand is not as big as a side stand). I would say it would be comfortably getting up to that 100 million figure.

The cheapest solution would be to add a few thousand by expanding the North stand but we would need to buy the land, the concourse would need to be extended to take the extra capacity and would still cost £50-60 million for very little gain. The club will make most of the money through the premium seats, naming rights, events. Three thousand extra tickets isn't going to make a world of difference especially given the outlay.

The best time to lay out £750 million is when you have £750million to lay out , or when you have someone to borrow it from at preferential rates.
I agree with what you say actually.
But I suspect our circumstances will mean we will at least have to share a lot of those revenue streams , lessening the positive impact on the team and extending our indebtedness for some years ahead.
