It is about limiting his personal liability and reducing the cost of financing to the club and also to himself.

In fact can you name one individual at any club the world over that has used a chunk of their own wealth to just buy a stadium?

If EFC get the funding, develop the stadium, they are the owner of the property (subject to charges from lenders) and also the tenants. Wonder if this is practicable or possible.
Also, the development cost of 300m as quoted - are we assuming 100% borrowings - I doubt it.

maybe its the council holding US to ransom, 'yes you can have the land and the planning, but we want £5m a year for the priviledge' ?? we will have to finance it the way we (the council) decide.

I alluded to something along those lines in here earlier, as soon as I posted it I thought "I sound like a conspiracy nut!". Glad someone else had the same thought lol But it could be a genuine reason (at a stretch). Old Joey boy having a word in the Mosh's ear early in the meetings "look Mo, you want easy planning permission, the city could do with a new stadium and jobs, and I want to be seen as bringing in free money to council coffers. Whole point is that LCC (the SPV) isn't borrowing money, only acting as guarantor surely.
EFC/Developer(if external co) are the ones doing the borrowing.

I've just told you. In 03/04 when abrahomvic purchased the club he could've easily afforded to use some of his £10bn+ wealth but didn't he's waited 13 years. Moshiri done it in 13 months. If what we are doing is so easy and risk free to those at the top of our club, why didn't Kenwright do it himself?

I don't know why abrahmovic waited to secure a new stadium, but I'd be willing to bet securing cheap finance wasn't the reason.

Kenwright couldn't reasonably convince LCC that he and EFC could be reliably trusted to fund this financing. We lost 25 million quid this year in the books, we've rarely made a profit.

There's also the benefits that LCC get by including this as part of the Peel Liverpool Waters development. What benefit was the council going to get out of Walton Hall Park?
