New Everton Stadium

Everton spin spin spin and spin, but can never avoid the fact they don't actually have the funding to do anything. We couldn't even afford a 20p piss in St Johns Shopping Centre's bogs!

Not being a smart arse, just curious what way you're reading it.
I see it as 'we'd love to build a stadium if we could find someone to pay for it' and who says something like "We’ve been slowed by the understandable desire to ‘dot every i and cross every t’." Thats akin to saying 'we'd be flying if we could cut a load of corners building a stadium'.

I am reading it that negotiations for the finance are proceeding not quite as well or quickly as we were led to believe, because the said finance wont be forthcoming unless the other stuff is nailed down. And "other stuff" might be zippo to do with the actual ground. But I might be talking bobbins, depending on the quality of the stuff I have "heard".

Mate, there fully expecting some genie to appear and give them free money or for the council to pay for it which will never happen.

You dont go looking at new houses if you cant afford to buy one. Thats exactly what theyve done here

You may well be right mate. Lets see.

CLUELESS.

Theres only so many times you can say 'not take a risk' but ultimately in business you have to take a risk.

The stadium is the be all and end all for us. If we don't get a big enough stadium built in three years we can kiss good bye to ever winning anything again.

Its like saying 'too risky to cross the road' ... 'too risky to get out of bed'

Get a grip Elstone. Enough's enough.

I've said time and again we're in a better position than the likes of Aston Villa (and I was right) but this clown is absolutely doing my head in.

There are no excuses. Interest rates are bottomed out. Inflation is low. The club's just been given a MASSIVE new tv contract.

Yet these clowns are trying to pull a fast one.

I'm not fooled by it.

A three year old kid could build a stadium quicker than Elstone. Who couldn't even build a lego stadium.

Furious reading that Echo article. He's fooling no one.

@davek

I'm not a militant. But this clown is getting on my nerves.

In other words - Bill and his boys can't afford it or the banks won't lend them the money.

Clueless.

Its make or break time for Everton. I said it three months ago.

If they can't deliver a 55000+ stadium they need to go. Now.
Its sheer incompetence, we're one of the best teams in the richest league in the world, a huge TV deal which is going up again next year by a few billion yet they cant find any financing. It completely baffles me how poorly we're run.

Third strike and there out, surely now there needs to be an understanding from both anti and pro board that this cant go on, at least get shot of that idiot Elstone

See my post above.

@davek

Quote me on it. I've form for long term predictions on football clubs.

Elstone has to go. I'm calling on him to resign having read that ECHO article.

They are hugely underestimating how important getting a stadium sorted before the next TV deal really starts to kick in is.

Its a disgrace. I'm of the view tonight that only a sacking at the top is enough.

Jesus christ. How perfect conditions do they want?

If this was surfing - right now the waves are 50 footers and the going is good. Yet Elstone doesn't want to get wet !!!!!!

Thats RUBBISH.

The TV money increases alone is more than enough to fund the stadium.

Its nonsense to say we are poor. Or cannot get finance.

The fact is they are incompetent or are being totally unrealistic. Its a joke.

Utter joke.
