New Everton Stadium

The government cuts were a consequence of the World financial crisis, which he mentioned.
Ummm... yes... lots of things are consequences of lots of things.

You were the only one who mentioned government cuts and linked THAT (rather than the larger economic downturn) to a discussion of one anomalous season of attendances...

Anderson flapping his gums again. Anyone woud think he had a Mayoral election to fight next May.....

It is a big issue to be fair. If he said we were gonna spew off 25000 jobs just to keep WHS and leave the north end of the docks to rot for another 50 years I doubt that would go down well.

I think I'm done with this thread, not because it's not of interest but because I think my expectations have been skewed. I saw an article on Bolton Wanderers being sold the other day where a guy was telling fans to be patient because there were 'a lot of moving parts'. Just think how many there are on a project of this size? Finance, Design, Government both local, regional and national, this UNESCO group and other heritage organisations etc etc.

I come back to this thread like others I guess because I want to see progress but the reality is that there could be lots going on that we won't get to hear about until things reach a certain point. It doesn't mean nothing's happening or it's not going to come about. Just that its very complicated and a lot of different parties are involved.

A lot of people have invested their time, reputation and money in this. I think it will happen and I think all the things which seem so negative like the transport, parking, design elements. capacity or the sewage plant will be sorted and it will be an amazing step change for the club and the city. It's just going to take time, but if the outcome is a fantastic stadium on the riverfront to attract the next generation of fans and players then it will all have been worthwhile.

You won't get anywhere in here with that sort of sensible mindset
