LBN understands that a financial backer for the scheme has been lined up and Everton is “confident” funds will be released when the stadium is given the official go-ahead.

We've been hearing whispers for weeks about planning permission on the 23rd of this month, but of course we lose a game and loads jump on the negative, just stop it, you sound like kopites when you do that.

I honestly think there is a generational divide on this one.

I would guess that most pessimists, myself included, just remember the plethora of past promises, and eventual failures.

I will never forget being at Goodison, many years ago, and they were flashing up glossy images of the proposed Kings Dock project.

We were promised that £99 million had been 'ring fenced' and it was all just a formality. You all know what happened next.

I hope and pray this comes off, as I want my son ( in his early 20's) to be attending BMD for many years to come, and then his kids after him.

Everton FC these last 25 years have just slowly killed me inside, and make no mistake if this comes off I will be truly ecstatic.

When I see the workies brewing their first tea on site, I will start getting excited.

Don't think it was anywhere near £99m was it? Our contribution to that scheme was (relative) buttons, if I remember right? Like only £30m or so?
