New Everton Stadium

The stadium logo has been bugging me for ages.

It looks like that naff Lenin hat, much favoured by comrade Corbyn.

Kind of how I thought Luke’s island looks like a shoe. A proper Air Jordan 😂

Got my email about the test events. For mandatory events that are required by law to get the required safety certificates, does anyone else think that is not just a bit cheeky for the club to be charging fans (£5 adult, £2.50 kids) for this.
They are relying on the fans to sell out these allocations to pass the tests. They know people will be more than willing to pay so they slap a fee on it.
What would they do if we all said no we not paying. They would have to let us in for free or fail.

Or is it ok for the club to scrap every possible dime from their committed fan base, as more money into the club should in theory translate to more success on the pitch?
The club is a business at the end of the day and demand is very high.

They could charge quite a bit more and still sell out probably

Depends how you feel about it, to me I've always said it risked being a pastiche if those stood out. I'm happy they toned it down.
It's already a pastiche thanks to the heritage lobby, but I think the inconsistency in the colouring of the brick panels would have been less noticeable with the Leitch motif in place.

I disagree. I think it looked great on the sketches and I’m disappointed it’s not more visible because the brick work looks a bit bland with out it. But opinions are like assholes.

The brickwork is ok, it's all the facade metal panels that take the look off the exterior of the stadium.

I've never noticed when looking at it with my own eyes. Something about the drone cameras that don't ever do it justice.
I noticed it when I first went down there to peer through the gates. It is probably less obvious the closer you get, but it is definitely visible from the site boundary on Regent Road, particularly at the northern end.

I am looking forward to the decking out of the plaza to give it some recognisable Everton features.

Tbh a brick facade imitating a dock warehouse is pastiche. A purest might even say it's actually only half-brick cladding. The issue is whether it is a successful homage to, or a parody of.... that architectural style.

The black cladding detail is meant to imitate the vertical shuttered loading-bays, that you see in these old warehousees, but I can't say I have ever seen any warehouse where there is so many per frontage, nor so irregularly spaced. During the build, when only the frames were in place for some of these vertical spaces, they looked like warehouse window frames and I thought some of them were going to be glazed, like the Tobacco warehouse over the road. Offering more natural light inside too. Most people seem to like the final product, so maybe it all works, or maybe the roof is a more dominant and possibly distracting feature.
