I was going to say exactly this. Would they have got those machines in to weave in the synthetic fibres for three test events? I have serious doubts about that. More likely is they just haven’t been happy with the results and have decided to rip it up and start again which is absolutely fine. Why would they incur the cost of stitching the synthetic fibres for a pitch that will barely be used?
Another point, if they haven’t been happy with the results of the seeding/weaving combo, would they go down the same route again? They’re used the term, “relaying”, is that still a term for seeding? Or is it as it sounds, and they’ll go a different route and lay rolls of turf? If they haven’t been happy with the results this time around, not sure why they’d do exactly the same again. Let’s not forget the foundations aren’t the same as you’ll find in other stadia.
I could of course be wrong and this was the plan all along! But if that’s the case it doesn’t make a lot of sense R.E the synthetic weaving for three test events.
