I don't do it myself but I can assure you plenty do and not all old codgers. Someone who used to sit in front of me used to come in last minute with fish and chips. Anyway it looks as if that will be stopped as happens at many events now. The caterers probably insist on being the sole provider. As for hip flasks I have been known to carry a miniature whisky for medicinal purposes

Merseyrail are running a weekday timetable before and after the match so should be ok . Don't know about Northern.
