New Everton Stadium

The man who stole the food?

I really dont get the animosity towards that feller. He's a club member and he stole rip-off over-priced food and is now getting treated like someone's who's committed a war crime.

The financial penalty should've been enough and the club should have told him that he's on two strikes and the next time he's banned.

Instead they chose to go OTT for the catering company they've outsourced this to and humiliated him in the local media and grassed him up to the coppers. It's a bit of a 💩house trick IMO.
I think they drew a line in the sand showing any screff or low life who think it’s ok to behave any way they see fit that they can’t.

They also showed that they will protect there staff and show that’s it’s not ok to humiliate a young lad whilst he tries to do his job.

Just because you don’t agree with the food prices doesn’t justify the behaviour. You don’t half like to pick the things you want to get on your soap box about but apparently thievery and humiliation is ok! Funny, I always considered you a decent blue whether I agreed with you or not but this statement just shows you talk some crap.

Bloody hell, there's taking a contrarian view, and then this.
I do say I agree with making him pay for what he did and that he was a fool.

But how are scousers ever reaching a point where they believe grassing a feller to the coppers is the right move...for robbing an overpriced burger...when there's real villains out there who dont get that treatment.

The feller's an Everton fan at the end of the day.

See that fella who stole the food and posted it on social media making the entire fan base look like scum got banned.

Excellent news.

Every person I've spoken to and all commemts I've read, it appears to be 100% in agreement. Not seen anyone who doesnt think it was justified. Not 1 person.
Well done Everton.

Think the club were pretty proportionate tbh

They didn't embarrass him further by releasing his name (no idea whether they could do that or not), but made it clear that thieves aren't welcome - lifetime ban from the stadium seems appropriate. Other would-be thieves would do well to take note given the demand for tickets.

Shame they're not as bothered about membership 'Evertonians' stealing money from fellow fans by touting tickets.

The punishment was deserved for 1) theft and 2) mean spirited stupidity. I’d have a little more sympathy if it had been a young guy say, a teenager when they can learn from it but a 62 year old guy who does that is an absolute horrible bellend and anyone defending him in respect of the proportionality of the punishment is a whopper.

Have you not read the previous 2 pages? 🤣🤣

Ok, I can see this rattled a few cages, so I'll answer the criticism and then leave it there as the thread is getting snarled up with it:

When you remember that apparently not letting in people without tickets is "elitist", it's all par for the course.

I never said that, I said not letting people without tickets onto the concourse, not in the ground....'slight difference'.

Behave, it was embarrassing.....
You don't like the prices don't order it's simple....

Theft is theft and it embarrassed the club and the fanbase....

You need your head testing if you're defending the weapon

I'm not defending him; Ilm saying he didn't deserve what's happened to him in return. Overkill.

But it's alright for him to humiliate the person serving him? ok.

That was bad. But then when did I say it was ok to do that? I stated he was a fool to do it.

Dave, don't want to get into an argument about this but I'd be interested in your opinion as to what you feel would have been an appropriate and proportionate punishment here if you disagree with the outcome.

I've said: make him pay for his theft then put him on notice he's gone if he's found doing ANYTHING out of order again...but certainly dont grass the feller up.

Maybe don't steal stuff mate. Isn't hard when the majority of people don't do it. Then he has the cheek to film it thinking he's hilarious. It was utterly pathetic.

I stated all that.

You got outed didnt you?

Meanwhile, they have now deterred everyone, rather than deal with a thousand others who wouldnt mind being told "you're on two strikes buddy!!!" after they get away with a Davek special.

Incomprehensible to me that. Sorry.

He stole something on their property, they have every right to ban him. Just like any business/place would.

They do. But why not just ban him rather than grass him up and put his name in the media? They did that to put his head on a pikestaff to deter more people who'd steal the catering sub-contracting companies over priced tat food, that's why. I disagree with that in a big way.

Ok fair enough. If you dont think ruining someone's life over a £12 burger is wrong you're entitled to that POV,...I suppose.

Have you been and tried the food? Can you confirm it is overpriced based on experience?

Because something is too expensive for you, does that mean you should be able to just take it?
I didn't say he should just take it.

But if the stadium prices are that high then there'll be way more than him stealing food and drink. That is a certainty.

Let's be honest though, he never did it for any modern day Robin Hood principles, he did it cause he's a 62yo gobshite that thought it was hilarious. He probably could afford it, he just chose not to pay.

How's the notoriety feel now?

"You steal one more time, then thats ok. But if you do it a third time. Well then your in big trouble"

I think his bigger crime was to post the video of him doing it online. He should be banned from supporting us on grounds of stupidity.
That creep deserves all of this and more. He stole from the club, embarrassed that novice employee, dragged the name of the club's fans through the mud, and had the gall to post the crime online. A fella like that is bomb-proof and a threat to the rest of us, such is the cock-sure nature of his anti-social actions. This, in all likelihood, is the tip of what a person like that is capable of. A thief. And complacent with it. The contemptuous scruff wasn't content with simply robbing. He had to publicly humiliate the employee. A low-life criminal.
