New Everton Stadium

Still patietly waiting to see it be an "Everton" stadium and not just a stadium. Have they forgot to hire interior designers?

Yes, I'm aware of the probability of the club waiting to announce a major sponsor, but that could be any club's stadium that wears blue at the moment.

"Evertonise" the thing.

If they had half a brain they'd build a platform on that side of the track they've cleared to service the nearside line and then convert the island platform just to serve the far side.

Problem is they've still got to find the tin man and cowardly lion before dancing their way to the Emerald City to get the brains, heart and courage, to do the right bloody thing!
Also, protection from the rain would be nice

I thought the stadium was to be finished and handed over to the club in December. Seems like it was just partly finished.

I think the work contracted to Laing O'Rourk was due to finish in December (and did)
The interior set up, decoration and Everton branding etc is down to the club and will, I'm sure, be finished before the Stadium is due to open.

Good to see this is starting in September. Will really improve the surroundings and the approach to BMD
I hope it is somewhat like the Festival Gardens in Otterspool, which seems like a pleasant park. As you say, the park will improve access to the stadium and will likely improve the appearance of an area that still seems fairly run down. All of this could come together and attract investment into the area.

Thats it hopefully and other deals becuase we wasnt safe 100% so now in the prem next season hopefully money been agreed ready to go.
I don’t know how far along any discussions were - but you’d imagine that the tier of sponsor we’re after would only be interested in a Premier League ground. Or at least, the terms of any deal would hinge on which division we were in.

Now that’s settled - for at least for as long as it can be with any club - it could conceivably be the condition a deal was waiting on.

Or not. Like I say, I’m just interested to see!

I see where you're coming from but I'm not sure I completely agree with this. Baines, for example, would have fitted straight into our 60s and 80s teams. If he was in the 70s team that almost won the title, maybe he would have been the difference.

You can be a great player in an average team. It's just unfortunate you don't have players of enough quality to win anything.

For me Baines is up there. Kachelskis close, but doesn't have the longevity. He certainly would have fitted into our top squads though. Not sure who else. You could win titles and cups with Pickford in goal imo. Cahill was great but a battler in those kind of teams. Probably not a championship winning player.
The player missing in the 70s that might have changed us into a title/cup winning team was a top class goalkeeper
