New Everton Stadium

Quick question Tom, do you think some people in the East Stand will be at Sandhills after a game, before some in the West Stand have even left the plaza? The trains will be shifting passengers rapidly before a lot of fans even get there, more so now that the new 8 car carriages are being rolled out.

The new gaff is gonna have a different dynamic, and some fans might be looking at 10, 15, maybe more, minutes before they actually get out of the plaza I only say this, as it seems to be assumed that everybody will leave at exactly the same time, and that's not even including people who might choose to stay behind.

I'm also not sure on your assertion about the Northern Line not covering most of the city, technically, you are correct, but that's if you view the Northern Line as an isolated line that has no links to others. I think when you take into account that it directly links to the City Line(s) then I'd say more of the city has rail links than not.

I agree John, the Dynamic will be completely different. Most stadia and their immediate environs take a good few mins to clear, and that's with people dispersing in all directions with little or no restrictive flow. So BMD, essentially sitting in its own gated cul de sac should take longer, and that staggered dispersal will help Sandhills and the marshalling area to cope with the post-match rush. How away fans are treated may be an issue in that respect. Merseyrail might be able to feed an extra special train or 2 from sidings at Kirkdale and potentially at Vauxhall, to increase capacity to help clear that initial influx. However, if the station's through-put is restricted to 4k per hr, the actual train's capacity is almost irrelevant. Hopefully, effective marshalling and some remodelling can increase that considerably to nearer the line's capacity. Better still, hopefully a station at Vauxhall will eventually get the go ahead, to split North and Southbound passengers far more effectively.

Yes, I was only talking about the Northern Line. That's why I didn't mention the Wirral line either. I remember reading that only 20 something percent of the Liverpool conurbation were within convenient walking access to rail services. Of course that increases where park and ride and easy bus connections are available, but their are usage maps showing distribution of rail passengers, and obviously these drop off dramatically in those areas away from the lines. Unfortunately, there are only a few stations on the 2 city lines within the city boundaries, with only one full eastern corridor served directly, and the bulk of Liverpool districts either side with no steel-wheel connection at all. Originally, the loop lines were going to be added to the system, and that would've brought in several of those districts, and multiplied journey options around a real city-network. Again, hopefully that's one for the future, because that would be transformative for this site and the Liverpool water's scheme generally.

This is the exact reason to never believe what you read on the Internet. People will write crap just because it's the done thing to do as a rival fan, deep down you know they've only bothered commenting because it hurts them.

Hand on heart, there are only a few stadiums in the whole country I would even think about swapping ours for. That makes me warm inside and puts us back to where we were in the early 90's when Goodison was still one of the best around.
I haven't been to away games for years, so have no experience of most of the new stadiums. I'm just wondering though, potentially which stadiums might be better than our new one? I'm guessing really only Spurs and Arsenal? City? Never been. West Ham? You must be kidding. It looks shocking. Legacy stadiums like Anfield, St James'? Don't think so. Anyone who still travels able to give an honest opinion of which would still be considered better?

The roughly 65- 70k season ticket and memberships have had their chance to buy tickets for possibly the last ever cup game at Goodison and roughly half the seats still left. Tickets are £25 and a fiver for kids and on general sale today. Hopefully a sell out before next week.

That's quite surprising, especially as the Doncaster game was almost a full house. I think there's been a marginal price increase, but thought that would've been eaten up by season ticket holders and members.

Who do we play?

Those people are only interested in £1k+ per year, 19 games a season commitments.

Still should've been 69,187 capacity.

Ones I would consider are better are Wembley, Spurs, Principality and Twickenham. Obviously some have worse views of the pitch (Wembley) but the capacity and other facilities compensate.

Emirates I see as a similar level, especially if our capacity goes up with safe standing. They obviously have some parts that are stronger, but then so do we.

I think we better Wembley easily. Lower capacity but for atmosphere it’s going to be miles better.

Of course our tightness around the playing surface will mean practically every seat will have a better view, my take on it was if you were to be given a free swap would I have it. As good as we are with the compactness of our ground and the atmosphere it can create and being more interesting from the outside, I still think Wembley shades it with other factors. As it should as adjusted for inflation it is by far the most expensive arena in the country.

I'm not a fan of arsenals ground at all.
Wasnt much atmosphere. Seemed way to cavernous. Like that they kept the clock.
Would love if some elements from Goodison were visible in the new stadium.
What they did with Highbury looks great tho.

So only Spurs's is a better footy ground in England? Excellent. I'll settle for that.
