That said, while I subscribe to the view that it is the next Mourinho we should unearth, not the old lad, it wouldn't be the maddest "statement" signing. Nobody can organise a defence like José. So, the Dyche transition wouldn't be as dramatic as it would be if they'd hired Potter or Roberto Martinez. I suspect he'd back himself to do enough with a good defensive unit already there, more or less, and expect to get more out of the "footballers" in the squad. But I can't see it for the reasons above...
Another currently employed defensive coach who they might have their eyes on is Diego Simeone, who might just fancy a shiny new project at this point. A flight of fancy on my part, no doubt, but when you've seen Herschel Krustofsky bring in Carlo Ancelotti, a boy can dream.
