Sounds like the final nail in the coffin of my interest in European football. Choreographed so big brands can't fail to qualify. How can they have the brass neck to call this a competition?

On the plus side, its new, so given past experience history doesn't count, therefore "six times la" will become zero.

How i miss the European Champions Cup.

"The wild cards will be reserved for clubs with the highest Uefa co-efficient - points used to rank clubs based on past European success - who have not qualified for the competition through their league position.

If the format was being used now, based on the current table it would mean Liverpool would gain a Champions League spot despite being seventh in the Premier League"

Basically gives us a 3 year window to become good and qualify for CL, need Usmanov to splash the Cash ASAP

Total BS that we could finish, say 4th, but the spot goes to Arsenal or Man U based on their CL performances from ages ago
 
An absolute joke and makes a mockery of the word 'competition'. How can a team deemed not worthy over the course of a 38 game season suddenly be eligible to qualify for Europe. How is this a logical step, I know I am preaching to the converted here but it is an absolute disgrace of a decision and they are not hiding their obvious intentions, in truth, they (Including both UEFA and the Premier League in that) gave up on any pretentions of making football an open competition a long time ago.

If we kick on and start to become a challenge to the top 4, then how long would it take us to actually get into the Champions League given that one year we might be displaced in favour of them lot, the next by Chelsea, the next by Man Utd, etc.

If we were 4th runners up we'd still get into the runners up league, but the difference would be if we finished 5th runners up we wouldn't. If the rs finished 5th runners up we would both qualify. Probably the rs would get a shoe-in even if they get relegated because they gave so many arm chair customers.
 
Just wish the FA would prohibit the "big 6" from competing in either one or both the league cup / FA Cup.

"Fine you have your dubious entry into the CL but dont have your cake and eat it no domestic trophies for you".

Give the rest of us a chance to win something.

God sake wildcard spots for highest rated teams... how about wild card for teams that were banned from it due to the actions of others, or a wild card for teams that were cheated out of a spot by a fixed draw and by obvious cheating by appointing a retired ref for 1 game to make dodgy decisions.
