No doubt the increased fixture pile up will see something like the League Cup scrapped to accommodate it when in reality these teams shouldn't be allowed entry.

It would just devalue it. Taking them out would be the first steps towards a breakaway European league.

The more I think about it the more I'd probably end up enjoying football again.

The competition is already a joke. This just makes it totally laughable.
If it does come in, and I think it will due to the money involved then
it's over. This and 'Project Big Picture just make a mockery of everything.
The game at elite level is finished. Might as well go and support your
local non league team rather than this lot of crooks.

Only way things will change is when the none top 6 clubs fans get off their knees and stay away from the grounds / not tune in anymore.

Hit them where it hurts their pockets no one will want to watch football going forward with empty grounds - its awful enough now in understandable circumstances.

First principle of any sport is the competitive element. Qualifying on anything based on past performance is an absolute travesty.

Easy to say as an Everton fan, but I wouldn't even want us in that if it was based on anything other than qualification on merit.

Because everything that is being done is a sop to prevent a European breakaway then I am for a European breakaway; let them leave, sell their tickets to tourists and watch as it all collapses in on itself.

The EFL cup will be the first casualty and clubs down the pyramid will fold because of the reduced income. Perhaps UEFA expect those fans left without clubs to suddenly become Juventus fans?

Already started that. I look out for everton results but haven't the slightest interest in other prem (division 1) teams. Just no interest any more, same as if I were watching a chess game and was told who was going to win it before the first pawn was touched.

Fans,should go to stadia. What they should resist doing is paying hard earned money to watch the same old same old characters in a tedious pantomime on the tv. The games about the fans yeah?

I'm with you on allowing a breakaway league. In fact I'd fully encourage it.

If 20 top teams formed a breakaway league how many seasons would it last before certain clubs got a bit bored of coming nowhere every year in their Euro League and suddenly rediscovered the appeal of being big fish back in their domestic league.

Want to break away? Fine. But it's a total breakaway from your domestic FA, UEFA and FIFA. For every year you compete in a non sanctioned breakaway league you get a 2 year ban from all domestic competition and any player playing in that league is no longer eligible for UEFA and FIFA tournaments such as Euros or World Cups.

The breakaway is a bluff made for further leeway. UEFA and FIFA probably don't believe it would happen in a million years but push that narrative of big club power to fans to excuse them when they alter competition structures to favour the more marketable clubs in their product.

Financially that is true. I think the gate receipts are circa 10% of the top clubs turnover these days.
However, as COVID has proven, without the fans they do not have a saleable product.
The fans have far more power than they could ever imagine. The problem is it's almost impossible
to harness and use it due to the tribal nature of the clubs we support.
If all of the fans decided to do a one day boycott of all the games on one day together in protest at
the silly kick off times (for example) then SKY & BT would have no choice but to sit up and take notice.
But unfortunately, its never going to happen and they know it.

Just read on Twitter that the RS, United and the 2 Spanish teams are not happy with the commercial deals for this new tournament, and there is a chance this won't even go ahead now, going to be a new round of Negotiations with Uefa and ECA.

They will be a Super League in the next 5-10 years with clubs having individual tv contracts which is what the American owners want the most.

I see sporting integrity and a fair crack for all is alive and kicking.

I just wish that there was another way that these massive clubs could increase their chances of making Europe each year without resorting to what is effectively regulated doping. Say if they earned millions more in gate receipts and sponsorship and naturally the best players gravitated to them then they could have a hope of fighting off teams like the mighty Wolves, Leicester and Everton. Oh well that is a pipe dream I suppose, I'm sure no one could begrudge them the opportunity to do well.
