You know something?

I once spent 6 weeks in New York but i honestly can't think of anywhere to recommend you.

Apart from some tv museum which was showing old episodes of The Muppets, that was cool. But was 9 years ago so there's probably something else on now.

Best city I've been too, and I've travelled a fair bit.

Where you staying? On top of the usual guff like Times Square (best in the evening), Empire State Building (get their early doors to avoid the massive queues), Central Park (massive, so don't take your crocs) and the Statue of Liberty (swerve the ferry) just enjoy walking around somewhere that never gets boring.

We done a boss walk through Central Park right up the Upper East Side one afternoon until we got towards Harlem where it got dead moody.

The food there is outstanding. You'll love it.

saw this programme once showed a nice coffee shop central perk or something looked alright on the corner of 7th and 8th next to 9th

staying at the central park hotel- looks nice, the missus has done me proud.

Minus 5 there at the moment though- layers layers layers

I forgot to add that it's the coldest place in the world. Defo need a hat (not a trilby) for on top of the Empire State Building.

They've got ice skating in Central Park which azula loved and I ruined apparently as I opted for the nearby hotdog stand and viewing only.

Get some pizza while you are there!!!!

You are only 100 miles away Mick!!! Come down here and check out some submarines!

Um, there's so much to do here. As far as food is concerned, you MUST try NY pizza. I may be a bit biased, but it is some of the best pizza in the world. For an authentic thin crust experience, try Lombardi's in Little Italy or John's on Bleecker in the West Village (not the one near Times Square -- that one is really aimed at tourists). Also, the bagels here are the best in the world. The H and H bagel (on Broadway and 79th) is pretty famous, I suppose. I am partial to the everything bagel.

Oh, and there's no need to miss the Everton game. Don't know the TV schedule yet, but there's always a chance that Nevada Smith's is showing the game -- it is probably the most popular soccer bar in the city (and Landon Donovan made an appearance there not so long ago -- early December).

If your missus is coming with, she will probably want to do some shopping. Century 21 across from ground zero (can kill two birds with one stone I guess, and see that too -- though I always feel weird about sending people there) has great deals on high end labels.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions in particular.

People say that NY is the most fascinating, vibrant, colorful etc city in the world, it's a case for argument, but these said people almost certainly have never made a visit to Istanbul, San Francisco, Rome or Hong Kong, some other cities in the world that may just well be more adventurous or an eye opening experience.

I lived on the opposite side of the Hudson from Manhattan for long enough, and paid a visit or two but it was a long time ago. Haven't been back for a while now, I have a big, expansive and cosmopolitan city right on my doorstep almost, good people are good people wherever you find them.

To be fair mate, living there isn't exactly the same as visiting.

Look at me, I visited Hawaii and loved it. Then I lived there for 3 years, and pretty much hated it. So it can twist your perspective a little. New York (and Hawaii) are great, great places to visit, I just wouldn't ever want to live in either of them.
