I always wanted to go to Chicago, I watched a film the other day that stuck in my mind and thought I must go one day just to say I've been there, the weather would probably suit me, and apparently crime levels are no where near as bad as some other major cities back home.

I'd maybe get fed up with it given enough time.

People say that NY is the most fascinating, vibrant, colorful etc city in the world, it's a case for argument, but these said people almost certainly have never made a visit to Istanbul, San Francisco, Rome or Hong Kong, some other cities in the world that may just well be more adventurous or an eye opening experience.

I lived on the opposite side of the Hudson from Manhattan for long enough, and paid a visit or two but it was a long time ago. Haven't been back for a while now, I have a big, expansive and cosmopolitan city right on my doorstep almost, good people are good people wherever you find them.

I've been lucky to travel and visit some amazing cities, too many to name, and to be honest I was expecting to be a bit underwhelmed by NY after all the hype and it blew me away.

Its all about the Pizza mate!

Things i did there which were cool:

Take the missus to see a show on broadway!

Dylans Candy store, just around the corner from Bloomingdales.

Ice skateing in Central Park.

Dinner in the boat house in Cp - but you usually have to book well in advance.

Go into to toysrus on Time Spuare and for about 30 bucks they will put you and your missus mugs up on one of the screens in time square and give you a pic of it.

The Guggenheim on the east side of central park is brilliant if your into are and Moma is worth a visit to.

The Dakota Building is just of CP on the west side to - worth a look if your over that way.

A Philli Cheese streak sandwich is a must - prob best out of quiznos or a deli.

Enjoy mate! (y)

*Let us know if the hotel is good mate, im bringing the missus over in June!

** If anyone has a good tip for a good hotel it would be much appreciated!

most of your famous shiz is only blocks apart as well, due to being built in the same era, which made it seem smaller than i expected. we were only there a couple of days and nearly got snowed in, the airport closed about 1/2 hour after we left and didn't open again for yonks (days and days). that was after spending a week in vegas were it rained for the duration.

look out for steaming grids and see if bill's on broadway.

an watch out for the baseball furies.

i intend going back sometime in the height of summer when folks is turning hydrants on and stuff

I enjoyed Chicago, but it wasn't the top of the list. Cool place though, although beware of jumping into Lake Michigan.....its waters come from up North, so at the start of summer, in 90 deg F weather it is still a tad chilly (speaking from personal experience here). The water was about 65 degrees. Cold enough to notice, trust me!

I took a helicopter ride around Lower Manhatten and the Statue of Liberty.
Empire State Building at Night
Rockefellar complex
Grand Central Station
Broadway Show- Was absolutely amazing, a show called Wicked.
New York Museum
Chrysler Building
Central

We stayed right by Times Square- Neiler its a cracking Hotel called Park Central which is close to everything. Central Park Hotels- Park Central New York- New York City Hotel, Midtown Manhattan

Chico was right- it was beyond cold though. One day I had 9 layers on and still felt it.

Thanks for all the advice guys we truly had an amazing time.

Really pleased to hear mate, I love the place too. I'm heading back in June I think for a few more nights.

Best city in the world.
