Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

It’s not how much they have it’s how much they are willing to spend. I am more than happy with Moshiri, with Usmanov in the background funnelling money in through blag sponsorships, the pair of them have clearly show they are not afraid to put their money into the club and hopefully now we have the right manager to take advantage of it.

Thats a really good point. How committed an owner is makes a key difference. Arsenal have a wealthy owner who has no interest in massive spending and hasn't for years.

You spend £150m every year? Is that after player sales have been taken into account, or before?

So, as your fellow Blue says, it's as much about spending wisely, isn't it?

Gross. It looks as if that is gross as well. It's decent investment level, but most of the top 6 spend about that. If you want to be catching up with them, you probably need to be spending 3/4/5 times that over a 2-3 year period.

The caveat in this is if there's a recession in football that goes out of the window.

It doesn't look like they want to replicate City or Chelsea to me though. Or even replicate Usmanov/Moshiri either.
