This is massively underrated as a tweet. Honestly the thought of the Sheikhs actually flying over to get “unveiled” like a new signing, pictured holding up Newcastle shirts and everything, is absolute gold. Is that actually what they think happens?

I imagine the latest Saudi move is an attempt to strike a deal with the Prem - we'll unblock Bein sports and pay you dough to watch PL games in Saudi if you let us buy the Toon Toon.

I imagine it'll be done in the coming weeks providing the money is actually there and Staverley isn't blagging.

This is utter jarg I’m afraid.

beIN have the licence for that region until 2022, bought and paid for. The idea that the Saudis blocking beIN access to the Saudi market and literally sticking 2 fingers up to both beIN and the PL themselves, is somehow going to improve their relationship with the PL - the same PL they’re supposedly waiting for approval from - is for the birds.

This was an act of pure petulance and suggests they’ve been given at least a hint that they’re being binned off by the PL. As they’ve literally now made piracy the only way to watch the PL in Saudi.
