They sold one of their few players with any integrity at that time in Gary Speed, behind Bobby Robson’s back. Freddie Shepherd (who denigrated the wives, girlfriends and daughters of all newcastle fans) said he had ‘shot bambie’ when he sacked him. They treated him with total disdain and then build a statue of him outside the ground. They only did this cos Robson is universally popular in English football so they’ve claimed him as their own.
Horrible institution.
