Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I may be wrong but I dont think the sanctions would affect sponserships in the same way as "owning" something i.e. Chelsea and Abramovich.

I think us and one of the german clubs who are sponsered by Gazprom (Schalke?) suspended the sponsers rather than being forced.

And again I am fine with that if the rest of football followed suit but they wont - Newcastle will have a financial advantage over us simply because their evil owners are in bed with our government.

They'll be winning stuff whilst we get a pat on the head as we're a charity with a football club attached to it these days and nothing more.

If Usmanov's businesses are sanctioned in the UK they cannot trade in the UK, they cannot sell services, people cannot buy them. They can't pay invoices or enter into new contracts.

Which is great until you see the UK Government welcoming PIF buying into Newcastle - the same PIF who are the investment arm of the Saudi Government that the UK sells bombs to which they then use to blow Yemen and its people to bits with!

I haven't a problem with football cleaning its act up but we're simply a victim of complete hypocrisy with how the media were pressuring the club into cutting ties with USM because of what Putin/The Kremlin are doing in Ukraine whilst turning a blind eye to many other instances such as Newcastle/PSG/City/Wolves etc.

If Everton haven't reinstated the USM sponsers within the next 12 months then the board is not fit for purpose (which we knew already).

I can;t believe I'm going in for a 3rd bite on this. Why would you reinstate a sponsor you literally can't take money from?

So why is the club not highlighting the discrepancy in the sanction of USM to allowing murdering regimes to buy into football clubs, host world cups etc?

We are nice little Everton, always have been always will be hence why the official's take the piss out of us every week on matchday.

Because sanctions aren't really Everton's job. We were also one of 18 other PL clubs opposed to Saudi buying Newcastle. When the owner of several of your sponsors has just had his super yacht seized and his businesses sanctioned cos his bezzie has just launched the biggest war in Europe since 1945, it might come across as a little bit of sour grapes to be cry arsing about how interests from other countries not sanctioned by most of the world are allowed to fund other clubs.

Would be something of a PR own goal.

I very much doubt that Moss and co are running around thinking, next foul I am not going to give because this club won't speak out about the World Cup being in Qatar.

The World Cup has nothing to do with us, it would be very strange if they suddenly piped up and had a go at FIFA's decision to award them the tournament while trying to equate that to the USM situation. Newcastle's owners, maybe it is more relevant to us as a football club but it still has no relevance to the USM situation and would be seen as us just whining, and rightly so, when there are far more bigger issues than a football club and their sponsorship situation.

When the Chelsea takeover happened it felt shameless and unfair. I even stopped following football for a season or two. I remember being at uni at the time and barely watching any of our games. Journos jumping on Mourinho's cult of personality was a distraction and gave them a way out of criticising their source of income.

In an alternative universe, Chelsea don't get bought they don't finish in the top four so easily. In that Moyes era we stood a genuine chance of making the Champions League on multiple occasions and I saw Chelsea as automatically occupying a position that could've been ours. That could've changed everything, huge financial difference but that opportunity was taken away from us and others clubs who instead made the Europa league.

Abramovich being ousted because of geo-politics and not because of the Premier League is little benefit when we could be at the dawn of two oil rich regimes coming first and second every year for their own bragging rights.

The Saudi's have already helped ruin professional wrestling when they started hosting WWE events and I hold a grudge for that.

In the world of DBB and Kenwright who want Everton looking all nice and cuddly I agree it would be.

But for everyone else who wants us to be a successful football club and for geopolitical issues to be left out of it we want the board to have the balls to stand up and say if its good enough for the goose its good enough for the gander.

But we'll happily accept losing £40+ million in naming rights deals at a time of FFP austerity whilst Newcastle, PSG, Citeh and Co can go about their business its a joke.

What good do you think it would do to for Everton to release a statement stating their 'anger' over losing a sponsorship deal, seriously, what is your thought process. What do you think will happen?

Where does the hatred of Everton come from? Fans seem obsessed. Seen a lot of them wanting them to lose against Burnley to send us down.
