Fair point. I had assumed a lack of options but maybe the guy knows his body well enough to know time was up.

I'd be surprised if anyone offered Delph anything more than a "pay as you play" deal. Let's face it, most clubs would look at his last couple years with us and conclude that he had very little interest in actually playing - who offers a contract to someone who creates that impression?

Honestly, I don’t believe for a second that Delph had any ambition left after leaving City.

He came here, sat in his £80k and there are rumours that he’d already told the club he planned to retire before the season ended.

When he wanted, he showed he was a handy player, sadly, he rarely showed it, and couldn’t give a toss.
