Pro footballers career is very short mate and the majority of professional footballers do actually want to play togger every Saturday.

I’ve never understood the ‘career is very short‘ bit. Yes they want to play football but the salary shouldn’t be as high as it is just because the time you can spend playing football is limited, there are a variety of post footballer jobs e.g. coach, manager, pundit, agent etc etc. if all if that fails, get another bloody job like the rest of us.

Its a common reason to their desire to maximise their earnings and play in as many big games as they can and win as many trophies as they can, because in comparison to other careers it is short lived. They are well paid because they are the most valuable element of the biggest entertainment industry in the world, not because world football got together and decided it had to reward players because of the length of the career so they don't have to work in cadburys after.
