Anyone tell me what the issue is with Sam? Serious question as he seems to get a lot of bad rep for no reason.

For me what he does and does well is work with the tools he has available. He plays to players strengths unlike our last 2 managers. No round pegs in square holes. West Ham he had a target man (Carroll) and used him. Sunderland he had a small nippy striker (Defoe) and used him.

To me he doesn't have a style he calls his own he adapts to the players he has. You'd probably have to go back to Bolton to see a style attributed to him and they were pretty decent. This is probably the only reservation I have against him when it come to style does he even know so how could he build his team.

I'd have no problem him working with us as I don't think he's ever worked with a group of players as good as ours, the group is just low on confidence.

Tuchel would be my first choice but out of all the others I'd take Sam.

Posted this elsewhere but looks relevant here also. Followed his stint at Sunderland closely and there's some alarm bells that should be ringing non-stop.

When he took over they were dreadful and largely continued to be under his stewardship winning just 3 of his first 11 games including arguably the worst away side to visit Goodison for years (the Kone hat-trick).

In January he bought Kirchoff, Kone and Khazri, and while all three made a big impact eventually to them staying up, they were all ridiculed in the couple of months after signing. In fact it was only in March that they showed any signs of life at all and they'd have been well gone had Newcastle not imploded.

Worth noting what has happened since to those three and this is certainly a factor to consider. Kirchoff was a sick note and barely played since. Kone stood his ground on a new contract promised by Sam and caused untold ructions during Moyes early reign, before quickly becomming their second most hated player for lack of heart and ability (after Rodwell). And Khazri returned in summer 2016 overweight, uninterested and subsequently shipped out.

It's not just Allardyce you take on, it's the legacy he leaves that takes years to flush away.

Still in the Marco Silva camp, last 2 jobs over achieved. (Hull and Watford). Nice long contract and something to build with I think he will become a good `un. Others I`d have are Wagner at Huddersfield and NES from Wolves...... Lets be serious most of our hardest games are behind us now.

A long contract doesn't mean a thing to him if he was to walk out on them. He's only been there a few months.

Unless they can secure their main target, they will probably leave it until after the international break anyway.

They might as well use the time to work down the list as becomes necessary. And try to bring someone in that can bring some excitement with them.

Dyche will crawl here and Allardyce, for all his posturing, wouldn't turn us down either I don't think.

In the meantime, hopefully Unsworth can get us a win on Sunday which will lift spirits massively.

Either way, I don't think Unsworth will get it so that leaves them a fortnight, or thereabouts. Plenty of time for a nice surprise.

and all three no doubt saw nice fat envelopes full of cash being passed to Fat Sam - same as Pulis, corrupt as 'f'

Different type of coach though I think mate. Definitely good at short-term jobs (Chelsea, South Korea).

Are we looking for a short term "fire fighter" or would a long term "project" manager be better?

I'm at a complete loss as to what we need right now. ( Apart from a couple of wins, to build a little bit of confidence).

Personally i think Dyche has earned a shot at something a little bigger than Burnley.

He got them up, they went back down i know, but he got them straight back and kept them up.

This season, having sold their top centre half, he has, in my opinion, got them up a level, with some shrew signings.

I would rather him over Allerdyce all day long.

We , as a club, need to take off the rose coloured glasses right now, and have a long hard look at precisely were we are.

9 weeks ago we were all talking about challenging the top 4, challenging for the Europa league, challenging for the Caraboa cup and having a decent run in the FA Cup.

Fast forward to now and we are bottom 3, out of Europe ( virtually), out of the Caraboa cup and rudderless.

For the first time in 20 years i actually fear for our top flight status.

Our next appointment as manager HAS to be the right one.

Anyone who says that Allardyce or Dyche would crawl on their hands and knees to get here is mistaken.

While these managers would indeed come here the idea that they will not have seen our present predicament and not be well aware of the salaries and contracts of the last 3 managers at the club and not expect a similar kind of contract is seriously miguided.

We would be held to ransom and fleeced by either in Martinez/Koeman style make no mistake about it.
