Has any manager ever said that are unhappy to stay at their current place of employment, in a press conference?Beinsports posted something on Twitter 2 days ago where he says he is happy to stay at saville
HE’S the Special One of Spanish football — not Jose Mourinho but Unai Emery.
Most people outside of La Liga won’t even have heard of the Valencia boss.
But Guillem Balague insists the young manager is cut from the same stylish cloth as Real Madrid boss Mourinho.
From a meteoric rise after failing as a player, to his outrageous antics on the touchline.
Rangers boss Walter Smith will see first hand if Sky Sports’ resident La Liga expert’s claims are wide of the mark.
Balague certainly doesn’t think so. He said: “Unai Emery played like a manager when he was younger. He used to correct everyone in the dressing room.
“Just before he turned 30 he got the chance to be manager at Lorca.
“He got them promoted then moved to Almeria and did the same thing.
“Then he was No2 at Valencia and he’s finally got his big chance. One of the major problems he faced when he first arrived was being younger than a lot of the experienced guys.
“He still is — but he’s definitely won everyone over.
“He’s one to watch because he’s a very animated character.
“It’s his gesture, like he’s saying to the world ‘This is how intense I am’.
“I think he’s taken advantage of the sort of thing that can happen when you’re not a very good player.
“Unai is very studious of the game, he loves learning.
“He’s one of the best guys in La Liga at preparing teams.
“It’s a typical story of wanting to do well as a manager because you didn’t do well as a player.
“He’s like Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger. He’s got a point to prove.
“Unai’s the first to admit he wasn’t a very good player.
“The quality was there but he was very lazy and didn’t make the most of it.
“It didn’t take him long to realise that wasn’t the road he wanted to go down.”
Most managers would have been pulling their hair out after seeing two of their best players shipped out.
Emery had no such worries when David Villa left for Barcelona and David Silva quit for Manchester City.
But Balague reveals that Valencia spent months plotting for the day his prize assets were sold — to make sure they weren’t left behind.
He explained: “The club was very clever in the way it did its business.
“They brought in 77 million euros and only spent 22.5m.
“They knew they had to sell Silva and Villa, so for six months they were planning their replacements.
“By the time the summer arrived they had agreed most of their signings.
“They were players who gave the manager different options.
“Ricardo Costa was real experience for them at the back.
“Tino Costa was a gamble in the middle that’s paid off. Roberto Soldado up front is a guy who scores regularly, so there have been fantastic signings.”

The one big weakness with respect to Emery is that the Director of Football is the big reason their transfer policy was so successful and it would appear the same at Valencia. He's an article from the Sun
Moyes sells papers...that is all. Surely most of us are smart enough to see that?
The utter state of that 2013 list compared to the 2016 list.
