Hello saints

The "Gardening Leave" nonsense really is just the Southampton ITK winding everyone up - note he said "could" not "would".

Well, yeah, Southampton "could" have put Koeman on gardening leave if they'd not agreed for him to go. If they'd refused Everton permission to speak to him they could have decided to keep him, put him on gardening leave, continue paying him the £3.5m for the rest of his contract and also employ a new manager for next season at an extra, presumably comparable if not higher, cost than that. That's how gardening leave works - he's not sacked, they have to carry on paying him for next season and they're down a manager.

So they could do that, and cut their noses off to spite their faces just to stick two fingers up at Everton, but even Southampton are simply not that insane. The suggestion is simply a childish and pathetic swipe, and should be dismissed as the utter, utter guff that it is.

I'm sure that 99% of this forum is aware of that and is just on a piss take. Thanks for explaining it again for the 1%'ers though. Not that they will take note.;)
