Well looking at who martinez replaced and why....if bournemouth beat us at home at the weekend i could see Howe given a shot. He is a blue and he is a good manager plying his trade with a small club (in comparison) to ours, Well every other prem club tbh. I would like to see someone like him given a go. We really can't be any worse off (morale wise). Yes I would love a winner in charge but nothing in football is a guarantee....look how Jose lost his dressing room

There's a lad who follows Russian football on here, who speaks a lot of sense who says his team are terrible to watch.

They play a lot of long ball mate - especially when winning in a game or as their plan B when their normal style isn't working, they 'can' be quite exciting but more often its down to the quality players they have than to any attractive style they are playing.

Think the way Mourinho plays in crucial games and then go more of an extreme version of the same tactics for an idea of what i mean, more often than not it works in terms of results - but it hasn't endeared AVB to any Zenit fans i know - especially when they did it last season against some pretty poor teams that they could have easily just hammered everywhere playing their normal style

Zenit also have a few decent youngsters (Russian ones) who just aren't getting much of a chance under him atm either.

The again - he won the title last season...

I do know one thing for certain though, the media, the fans and the pundits all have a pretty big dislike for him here - if that means anything though who knows

Why ?
Moyes , I accept that and agree that he has done his time here , took the club as far as he could and it would not be a good appointment.

Benitez , I don't quite understand why he would not be considered. Because he managed Liverpool ? , because he passed a snide remark about us in frustration after a game ? If that were the test Mourinho certainly could not be considered or Pellegrini, Hiddink probably as well.

Benitez has to be considered, it may well be that he would not come to Liverpool to manage us and that has alredy been reported. But , he has managed top , top clubs on the continent and won trophies there. He is at the right age as well. If it were not for the Liverpool connection he would be right up there on a lot of peoples lists.

If we get a manager to make us great again, I don't care about his past.

Personally find it bizarre that any blue would want Benitez given his strong Liverpool connection. What's more, his transfers were so bad blues freqeuntly laugh at them, one or two decent signings aside.

If he wins trophies I honestly couldn't give one what the football looks like. We've apparently had 'football from the gods' for the past three seasons and I've been bored stiff. Arsenal fans are bored with Wenger and Chelsea fans loved Mourinho's football. The common denominator is winning. The more wins, the better the football is. Everything else is just subjective.

I don't want him because of his past, but let's be fair with transfers.

Alonso Torres Mascherano Arbeloa Agger Reina Kuyt Finnan Skrtel Benayoun.

That's not a bad list by anyone's reckoning.

Howe would be too risky. He's likely to do well for himself, and he's rightly earned a lot of respect at Bournemouth. But a move away from his long term club, and having to potentially deal with big egos may be a recipe for disaster for us.

Eddie Howe may well turn out to be an excellent manager. Who knows?

But dont really fancy us being used as a sample to see if he will be. I am happy to stand corrected, but has he, like ever, managed anyone with actual expectations of success?

Eddie Howe again Christ on a bike. We don't have time for a maybe manager it's got to be a winner.

Finnan was utter dogturd mate, as was Benayoun

So that leaves 8 signings of note in 6 years and having spent hundreds of millions.

Yes he bought Arbeloa - he also sold him for just 5m to Real Madrid
Yes he bought Alonso - he also sold him to Real Madrid as well - as he wanted to 'upgrade' with Gareth Barry i believe LOL
Kuyt and Skrtel - never any more than decent players - neither anything special - which is why Liverpool kept hold of them - if they where special they'd have been sold like the rest of their better players
Mascherano - yeah a good buy no doubt about it, although he never tried him at cb i don't believe which is where he has won all his trophies for Barca playing ;)
Reina - decent keeper
Torres - exceptional striker - that one i will give you as a great buy
