thing is...surely utd aren't stupid enough to make a decision based on the press reporting everton going for mourinho?!

I think the Everton manager's role will not, in future be so monolithic. Parts of the hitherto 'total control' will be be separated out. I think the manager will have complete control of the first team but other aspects of the footballing side of things will be assigned to other personnel answering to a Director of Football.
Modern football demands so much instant success from a manager, that he should be allowed undivided attentions toward effecting just that sole task...success

People talk about Jose being a winner and want him no matter what. Wins trophies, will win us one, will get the monkey off our back, get us to the top table again.

I don't want him, but want us to be winners again, so would accept his appointment.

I believe Benitez would do this and much more.

Would hate come before trophies? To win a trophy would you accept a Benitez appointment?

We all know the clubs he has managed - all of which have won trophies in his guidance (when given time).

If we are looking at proven winners like Pellegrini or Mourinho then Benitez needs to be in the mix.

Why the hell would you want Benitez to manage us? Literally every Evertonian hates him.

Haha no change from me in putting caps in my name.

There's a game being played and not everything in the press is reported as they know it.

Many of the press have known of Jose's approach since mid April when I first mentioned it.

The story is running but not necessarily as reported.

@The Esk - Are we being used, do you think? Or are we a genuine bonafide option that Jose is seriously considering?

If Mourinho has any nouce he'd come here if Utd don't want him, he wants to stay in the Prem, he and his family want to stay in England.

He's won Champs leagues and league titles all over Europe, PSG is his best option to continue that if they want him, but he's been there and done it, the French league is pants, and he won't win the CL with them no matter what money they have to spend.

He could really find a home at Everton, his only pressure would be to get us in the Champs league as that is why Moshiri is willing to fund the revolution, if I was Mourinho and I wanted to stay in the uk managing Prem football, I'd come to Everton with their new billionaire owner, it would be like his first season at Chelski all over again.

The Man U job if they want him, and it all points to them not wanting him, has immense pressure with it, he'll have to go up against Pep and Conte, Wenger and the Poch and try to be top of the pile, the odds are stacked against it.

He has nothing to prove and everything to gain if he came to us and made us a top 4 club.

No.

My question was more about winning at any cost.

People want a winner at any cost. Therefore if you want a winner at any cost then you would accept Benitez.
