It has to be Jose, but I don't think Brands would even contemplate it. They would clash! Mourinho met Moshiri before he took the United job. I think it was close but obviously once United got involved....

Sick of the small-time loser mentality that has infected this club since the 1990's. Anyone who suggests Arteta, Moyes or even Phil Neville needs to give their head a shake. Arteta would bring us down, Moyes would set us back years and Phil Neville would be similar to his playing abilities - an absolute embarrassing fraud.

The interview questions should begin with:

Q1. Do you think any of these players are good enough for Everton Football Club:
  1. Dominic Calvert-Lewin
  2. Morgan Schneiderlin
  3. Theo Walcott
If the answer is yes to any of the above then the interview is over.

Q2. Where do you think we need to strengthen?

Q3. Have you ever... in your history of management, changed your tactics/formation/style to exploit/counter opponents? [Our previous 4 managers could only answer "no" during their time here.
Q4. Do you hate the RS?

The spurs and Man U situation is not helping us here. Both are bigger and better jobs so if all three need managers we will only get the third best, if that makes sense. It’s typical this. Everton will sack Silva, have Jose lined up, awaiting press conference, Spurs sack Poc and Jose joins Spurs

Everton that

If by a miracle Jose started taking intrest about 20 clubs will be like 'EVERTON!!?' Then they'll all be getting his number and offering him the world.

Listen lads stop with these Jose shouts, this is Everton.

Its Neville, Dyche or Howe that is our level I am afraid.

We NEVER go for the best we are officially a very average club.

Leicester will be the team we have to catch now

Mourinho is just a fantasy that is simply never going to happen. He isn't interested in clubs that would have a party after a 6th place finish.

I'm not sure Moyes is the best man in 2019, but you have massively down played his achievements there, to the point where you are even moaning about the occasions in which we did beat the bigger teams. Apparently we didn't beat them in a good enough manner or something.

Moyes failed to properly break the top 4, but he had us in 5th and 6th place and competing in Europe, and to do that you had to perform better than 75% of the league over a full season. The way things are going, we can't even outperform the bottom 25% of the league.

The football on show right now is utter tripe, and much inferior to what we saw for most of Moyes' tenure. Moyes and his teams were far better than what we have right now.
Well first of all, I did say 'if he would come' when talking about Mourinho, an acknowledgement that I consider it a long shot. Mourinho is actually not the kind of manager I would like here ideally, but my point was that he would actually be a great candidate to revolutionise the way the club acts - which is what we desperately need. In order for that to happen though, the board would have to show the kind of ambition we are not used to in order to get him - so yes very unlikely. Doesn't make my points about him and the club incorrect though.

On Moyes, I did give him some credit. My point was that, whilst he was more consistently effective than his successors, he actually put in place many of the things that have made us suffer in the future. His achievements were not as amazing as the man himself would have you believe. He got us to a decent level from very little, granted, but the glass ceiling was as much his own as one enforced by Everton's lack of money. Which is why I was talking about the manner in which you beat bigger teams - yes it does matter, if you wish to get in amongst them and win trophies. You simply have to be able to outplay your biggest rivals, at least some of the time. My point was that we have very seldom done so, which has contributed to a bottler's mentality. We approach those games like a League 1 club trying to prove a point - Moyes put that in place.

We could not achieve anything of note in the past as much due to Moyes' limitations as a lack of funds. Fiorentina was a case in point - we had played well against our opponents so far in the UEFA cup, we get an away draw to a semi-decent team, and instead of telling the team to keep doing what they were doing, he tried to play for a nil-nil and we were turned over. He didn't go there to keep it tight as it was the first leg. We played with fear when we had no need to. Then back at Goodison, whilst it was exciting granted, we threw everything at them in a manner befitting a lower league team in the cups instead of putting down a real marker in terms of performance, and we went out. We always did this against bigger teams. So yes, ultimately if you wish to compete at the top, the manner of victory does start to matter.

Because of his and the club's various limitations during his tenure, we achieved nothing and the level of competition beyond the big clubs was nothing like it is now. We need to make an appointment of intent otherwise we slip behind teams like Leicester, Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth etc for many years to come, never mind the big clubs.

We aren't appointing Jose. He wouldn't come and he doesn't fit the model. Ten Hag or someone similar, young passionate, inspirational and innovative who can genuinely change if it isn't working.

We ain't getting Mourinho but I'd want him just simply so can fix the ship over the next 2 years then bugger off.

Don't settle for Howe or Dyche, IMO throw everything at Arteta. Bloke knows the club, knows what we stand for and has worked enough under Pep.

A relegated ex Liverpool boss to me. I don't get it. He had so much ambition he went to China.

We need to have some self respect

The new manager shouldn't be Rafael Benitez under any circumstance.

Take emotion out of the situation and it makes perfect sense. It's manager who was at least once World class, and who has won trophies throughout his career. He'd arguably be the manager with the best track record we've had in a very long time.

However, the decision needs to be an emotional one to some degree. The club's fanbase needs a unifying manager. That wouldn't be Rafael Benitez. The 1st sign of any poor form and we'd almost all want him gone. It'd be a lose lose situation in the end.

The list above is an interesting one. In my opinion a few of those names are unrealistic. I'd be very surprised if a Wenger, Mourinho or Simeone would give us a 2nd thought.

Benitez as stated above shouldn't be considered. I don't think Moyes should be considered either for similar reasons - he wouldn't be allowed the same grace period as a different manager by sections of the fanbase.

Howe looks an interesting candidate. Potter too. Though Potter has a much, much shorter period as a top flight manager. Arteta is the other option. Hard to judge him though. Never been a manager but highly though of coach for the best team in Europe over the last few seasons. Without his ties to the club I'm not sure we'd be so keen on him. However, he might be the one. That spark that's needed.

Who knows though? We still have Silva in place at the moment. I don't think he's sacked anytime soon. Think this run would need to extend for another 3-5 games. Even then a sacking would probably mean a temporary manager and a permanent appointment in the summer of 2020. Don't see Potter or Howe waking from current positions mid-season. Arteta might be tempted though

So ignoring the stupid shouts for Mourinho, Simeone and Benitez it's Arteta and Moyes leading the poll?

One a kid with zero experience and the other someone that treated the club with absolute disdain in his final days then has failed at every club he's been to since?

To give a measure of Moyes' current standing in the game he's being strongly linked with Stoke ffs!

Arteta is a random gamble I could happily support but the smart choice has to be Roberto. If he'd come back. Big man, big personality currently bossing one of the best teams in the world. He'd transform the dressing room.
So you ridicule others for their choice and then go on to suggest we take that whopper back.
