Why would he join us? He is getting paid silly money in China, wont be risking another relegation on his resume and wont fancy working with a Director of Football.

Not to mention the fact that the fans have turned on him before he has already got here.

Same for any proven premier league manager. None of them work with a Director of Football, they will be sacked in 18 months and run a very serious risk of taking the longest tenured top flight club down.

I don' see them kicking doors down to take over.
When he sees tonight’s result he will have a warm feeling inside and it’s not because he dreams of managing our ‘small’ club.

Rafael would've stayed at Newcastle over China if Ashley would've just backed him. I doubt any Everton fan can get on their high horse right now about Rafael's RS past. We're deep in the brown stuff and he's our best chance at staying up and maybe actually progressing next season.

It doesn't matter who the next manager is, nothing will change. The problems start at the top. Moshiri is a clueless bell who needs to keep his beak out of football-related matters. Kenwright needs putting out to grass ASAP and needs to take his culture of mediocrity and "jobs for the boys" with him, the stupid prick. It pervades the entire club like a cancer.

the beak has probably something to do with it

The only manager who is available and could be trusted is Moyes. People need to swallow their pride and just accept the bad medicine. We are currently team of gutless losers, so we need someone that will come in, put some structure and discipline in place and instill some pride again among the squad.

The fact that a team of Everton players were happy to put in a performance like that against Liverpool is an absolute disgrace.

If you want a fancy “big name manager” that can wait until the summer.

You are right.

No flash-Harry with his tacky-tacky Continental style is going to save us; not at the moment anyway.

Moyes may not save us from the drop which, let’s face it, has been on the cards for at least the last couple of seasons, but under his guidance, we would certainly return to the Premiership the following season. Of that, I have no doubt, even with the bulk of the squad with which we’re currently lumbered. He’d get some sort of tune out of them.

This would fit with Moyes’ demands too as he’s openly stated he will only settle for a contract of at least two years, whichever club sees fit to employ him.

Even for the doubters, they have to agree that it will take a good couple of seasons from now before we are stable enough to start looking to the future in terms of attractive football, new stadium and big name players/managers.

That’s just the way it is.

Why pay 20M to get an ex-Liverpool manager who has coached a team to the worst form in China and who is getting outperformed by Steve Bruce at Newcastle?

If it’s his trophy record here’s a newsflash - we have zero chance of a trophy this year.

Moyes would keep us up easy. We have a better squad than West Ham, and he got them up to 13th. West Ham thought Pelligrini would be better than Moyes, and they are finding out now that is far from the case.

He has something like a 20 million buy out clause in his contract, and on mega bucks why would he even want the job?

So what is your great idea? You are happy to give the middle finger to anyone who suggests and sensible candidate

Moyes? Sensible? Come on I know you’re the biggest Moyes apologist on here but surely you can see he’s long past it and bringing him back will do nothing but complete our round circle to mediocrity

Or walk in, say we are doomed already ala Sunderland to protect his reputation and see us disappear into the ether.

Also again, he will want full control of team matters, transfers etc (nothing wrong with that by the way)
He worked under a DOF at Sociedad. Anyway, if he cannot work under Brands they can easily pay Moyes off at the end of the season if they are so enamored with Brands work in the transfer market.

I’d like to agree with you, but just look at what he’s got to work with.

Yeah but he has now gone to China.

I'm not sure how he is our best chance of staying up, how many relegation battles has he been in? One? How many has he survived? Zero.

His past rightly or wrongly is an issue, he simply will not get any leeway which is a terrible position to be in manager wise. He did well at Chelsea and got jibbed off because of his past links as the fans never took to him. It would be ten times worse here for a number of reasons.
