Why would a team that people are 'bored of' get such high viewing figures?

The answer is of course, they aren't bored at all, but simply consumed by rage, jealousy and hate.

I think Nick Wright on FTF is pretty spot on with his analysis. There is an incredibly vocal section of the internet that fixate on every tiny moment in a game that they perceive to have gone the Chiefs' way, and it has now reached the point of poisoning the conversation around them.

It's been picked up by commentators and sports pundits and they're running it in the general media now. These are people who should know better, but they are probably aware of how much eyes it will put on their product. It's a bit like the conversation around the Patriots (who actually cheated egregiously on occasion), except the internet has magnified it x1000.

I don't think the general public or casual NFL viewer hate the Chiefs at all. This will be a celebrated team that will be rightfully lauded as one of the best ever. Tbh, the only reasons I couldn't fully get on board with them on this forum for the last couple of years was because you liked them!

A lot of it is to do with social media, Brady didnt really have to deal with that on the same level during his career and he still took a lot of heat. You now look at a post on X or Instagram and you see a 'hate Chiefs' button depressed thousands of times within a few hours.

We have had players joining in on this - Will Anderson of the Texans who is a quality player and you would think above this, weighing in on this nonsense and rightly got fined.

We now see it expand to coaches like Ryans and McDermott.

Its embarassing.

Starting RBs to beat Mahomes in the playoffs:

James White, Ronald Jones, and Joe Mixon.

Starting RBs to lose to Mahomes:

Derrick Henry, Raheem Mostert, Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey, Derrick Henry (again)...

I have to literally check out of NFL coverage after the wild card or divisional round each year because of how much nonsense from casuals like this comes out. It’s so old. The Chiefs win because they’re really good and have perfected the art of not making mistakes and having great calls for big moments. The refs do miss calls, they are also right a vast vast majority of the time and there is no way you can actually make a case of favoritism if you do the work to break it all down.

With the Chiefs its about execution and precision. They do both so much better than everyone else, that the individual skill level of the each player doesnt count for nearly as much when you play them. It's a question of who executes better overall. And the Chiefs quite clearly execute better than anyone else.

I only said it recently in response to something Kev posted, but the most damaging thing is coaches adopting the idea. How can you compete if that mindset is being displayed by your coach? How can your team show the sort of mettle they need to beat the Chiefs if they are going to crap the bed the minute the Chiefs get a 50/50 call in their favour? I just don't know how a team can lock in with that sort of defeatism

Can’t argue with that.

Just in general the key to beating the Chiefs is mentality and coaching. They aren’t better at basically anything else.
