Check that. They are not in the same boat. They are a club held together by the ability and leadership of one individual. If that individual is not playing, then they will compete as 11 individuals rather than one club. Without that individual, they can be beaten by any club approaching the match with a more team-centered approach. They don't realise how close they are to being "Liddellpool" again, only Gerrard will not stick around to keep them hanging on if they continue on the decline.
If that happens, then the exodus of their faithful flock of bandwagon supporters will be an obvious joy to watch.
