Niko Kovač managerial candidate

There is a bit of an edgy side to him that I like.

The sort that wouldn't take to a lack of effort and would rile opponents, but also defend and praise the players when warranted as well.

I thought that Koeman might be that type of figure, someone to come in and not accept poor standards, but he was plain lazy, arrogant, and selfish with no sense of personal responsibility.

We need someone with the energy to devote to turning our fortunes around, and be both good cop and bad cop, rather than all of one and none of the other.

I can't say I know that much of Kovacs character, but he does appear to be closer to the type of manager we need than other candidates.

I just think the pace of the game in the Premier League doesn’t lend itself to 5 at the back.

In other leagues/ climates the 3rd central defender has the time to assess when to join the midfield and when to drop back.

Puts me off him somewhat

Conte won the prem with 5 at the back.

City won it last year with a nominal 5 at the back in possession.

Brighton doing alright this year with 5 at the back.

Only works though if the team are incredibly well drilled and there is plenty of legs at the top end of the field to join the wing backs out wide as well as come in to pockets of space in the middle. Also I think 5 at the back requires a couple of specialists or players intelligent enough to adapt to a somewhat automated style of play, so very reliant on having a squad that fits. Not sure current first teamers fit the formo

Chelsea won the CL with it and are struggling now because both wingbacks out, that are v important for the system.
We definitely would need an overhaul though maybe our 2 new FBs work better with it...Can't see Keane in any system other than old Burnley's

I've not actually heard/read anything about him today. What's the gossip m'lady??
I received a sport news notification this morning saying he was one of the people invited for interviews. I find the article I will send it. Not sure how much truth there is to it given all the rumours.

Give it to Rodriguez Sassy.

You know it makes sense!!
It sounds comical at the moment but James actually has aspirations of becoming a manager or being a club's president. Last August during an interview he announced that he was doing a master's degree in sports management. “This is to be a manager or president, manage a team later."
