Tonight’s highlights:

Madrid were poor, but you can’t use their starting line up as an excuse.
Courtois, Marcelo, Odriozola, Asensio, Benzema, Isco and Bale (at the least) would walk into our side.
To get done at home by CSKA with those players on the pitch is all on the manager.

His level of performance here is insane https://www.whoscored.com/Players/343975/Show/Nikola-Vlasic

Not only is he doing it for CSKA in the Russian league (3 player of the month awards) but also in the champions league and is pushing himself back into his national team.

I think with Brands as the architect we could see as much as £30mil for him (similar to what Golovin went to Monaco for) or decide to keep him and play him alongside Gomes.

Not sure id read too much in his quotes about CSKA, he cant say anything negative there and is obviously enjoying his football.

Nothing but positives from his loan.

He's going to play in front of who, Sigurdsson? Come on.

You seriously think he's coming in to play over Sigurdsson?

That depends on a number of elements, chiefly is Sigurdsson going to be 50% pointless, 30% average and 20% fantastic...

Or is he going to show some consistency.

Its approaching 1.5 seasons at the club and he's had a handful of fantastic performances and a lot of poor ones.

Hes also not a Brands/Silva signing.

Vlasic is nowhere near Sigurdsson. Look, just because the guy put up a couple good performances against Madrid and has played well in the Russian league doesn't mean jack. Happy he's doing well, perhaps he has a future, liked the buy when it happened, but he's got a long ways to go before he's better than Siggy. Heck, a lot of Eibar players looked great against Madrid, too.

Are you basing this on Sigurdssons performance levels last season + his last 3 games?

Or comparing with the half a dozen great games hes had for us?

Id totally agree if it was based on the 6 or so amazing games hes had this season...but other than that hes been rather average at best.

I dont watch the Russian league but if hes pushing towards being a starter in Croatias midfield + putting in performances last night then surely his outstanding statistics in Russia make him standout as being too good for the league?

Im thinking that Sigurdsson plays well in a successful team, but when we dont play so well hes anonymous...i think thats a fair opinion

Btw heres a cute video of vlasic

@CRIMHEAD also, if Brands/Silva had £40mil+ and big wages to spend on an attacking central midfielder, would they go for a Sigurdsson or Vlasic type of player...or someone with different skillsets?

I think if someone came in with a decent chunk approaching £30mil then Sigurdsson would be sold, we may even sell Vlasic and Dowell too...but certainly dont see Sigurdsson as being someone irreplaceable...apart from his goals which we need -- as currently only Richarlison scores.
