It’s not really a “reasonable” standard.

The Russian league is on its backside. It’s not been this weak in 20 years.

Zenit, CSKA, Spartak all shadows of their former selves.

Fingers crossed he excels there and we get him back and loan him out to a UK side next time.

I'd have laughed at this a week ago, but the recent Zenit result suggests you are correct. Still, CSKA is in the CL and the most important thing for him is minutes and the standard can't be worse than the championship.

After signing two wingers and getting Lookman back, it's pretty clear the club isn't counting on him playing much. A loan makes sense.

Isn't his best position #10 rather than as a winger? In which case, if we assume Gana/Morgan are the two holding players, Gomes/Davies are one midfielder and Sig/? the other, then there's a slot there for Vlasic, Dowell et al to stake a claim as deputy for Sig?

Still only 20. May do really well on loan and come back a much better player. Who knows?
