I think with his lack of playing over the last 8 months, and his age means he would need a good amount of time to get up to speed with the English game, by which time the season would be over. Which all means Vogel wouldn't be a good choice at this stage.
I think Betis refused the transfer because they decided at the last minute they wanted a transfer fee. He took them to tribunal and won.
Is Everton's current squad strong enough to secure Champions League football?

FFC newcomer Jerome Johnstone looks at the progress his beloved Everton have made this season and wonders if David Moyes should have brought in a few more players alongside Fernandes in order to cement their pursuit of a CL spot and UEFA Cup success.
Someone once said to me, why do you support your particular football team? A good question and one that has no real answer. It's ingrained as a kid, you like the name or the colour of the shirt; there is no right or wrong explanation to it, and you just like what you like. I am a Scot from birth and a passionate Celtic fan. I moved down to England in the mid 80s so in truth have probably watched more football down here than in my native land and have great admiration not only for Arsenal but Everton football club.
I don't know what it is about Everton football club that drew me to them, it may have been Andy Gray, who was one of my favourite players at the time; the fact they were top of the table may have helped or it could have been my first experience of Goodison Park, where a Kevin Sheedy strike and Graeme Sharp header gave us a 2-0 victory. I found Evertonians very hospitable that day and a very honest set of people, something that has stayed with me since and something that brought infinity with that club and me forever.
I'm making the trip up to Goodison Park this evening to watch the Tottenham game; one that I'm sure will be a great spectacle and a time for us to well and truly bury the bogey they have had over us at Goodison in the last few years. What I find intriguing about this fixture is that this was the season that Tottenham were going to be a top four side why the rest of us had to fight for a UEFA spot. The upshot is we look the most likely while the Londoners fight it out in mid table.
We sit in 4th spot in the table and massive credit must go to David Moyes in turning a squad, bought in on a shoestring, in Premiership terms, to contenders for the Champions League spot. I always felt a few years ago we may have been a wee fortunate in certain games but this season we have been the real deal this season and more than holding our own up there.
There have been so many positives to take out this season. Howard looks solid, Lescott has been the country's outstanding centre half, Pienaar has been an absolute find and Yakubu is the kind of striker we always thought Daniel Amokachi would have been all those years ago. Alongside Arteta, Cahill, Fernandes and Yobo, we have the nucleus of a side that is more than capable however I just felt we should have shown a bit more ambition in the transfer market, firstly to alleviate the loss of those players in Ghana and just to add a bit more strength in depth and give Moysey every chance. It is vital we cement our place back among the elite and not let a great opportunity pass us by.
I was talking to Everton fans in the city the other day and we were debating this same issue and the general consensus was that David Moyes is satisfied with his mix of experience of youth and is fearful that the bringing in of a few players may unsettle the squad that has performed wonders already this season. That argument holds a lot of weight, but I'm always of the opinion that it is best to improve your squad when you are winning and at the top rather than be complacent and let chances slip you by. Time will tell and I have every faith that David Moyes will call it right and continue to take this great club forward.
