We should remember when judging Martinez that he inherited a top 7 side. He added (and this is to his credit) truly great players like Delefeou and Lukaku and decent players like McCarthy. He was also incredibly lucky to have a one in a generation bonanza of talent come through the youth ranks/or acquired to be youth players: Stones, Barkley and Galloway.
The talent in this squad is unrecognisable to what we had when we finished in the top 4, or even the Moyes sides that finished 6th.
And yet Martinez consistently this season and last can't get the best out of them.
How long can anyone expect to put up with that? We are one or two additions (in leadership and experience terms) from a side that could win the league. I truly believe that. I'm not sure I believe Martinez is the one to manage that side.
Needs to be a significant paradigm shift in the way this side approaches things and in results. Otherwise we are squandering immense talent. I don't expect this side to weather many transfer windows with all these [Poor language removed] draws.
