Man of the Match: The Fan who ran on
I had already resigned myself to Everton being relegated sometime in mid to late November.
This is the nadir. MAKE NO MISTAKE. Norwich had managed 4 wins in 45 Premier League games since our last embarrassment against them (0-2 September 2019)- this is almost certainly the worst top flight loss in 67 years and yes, 6-2 at Villa, 10-4 at Spurs were obviously dreadful but neither were against sides that clearly belong where we're heading next season.
Maybe Benitez might even have remembered Dean Smith embarrassed us 3-0 with a struggling Villa side.. maybe even that lesson eluded the team and the manager. Maybe they don't even care.
Only Everton could be 3 inches away from being top of the table (the offside "winner" at Old Trafford) and then nosedive into the relegation zone. They can't score first, they can't defend, THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE, (else they might actually start a game on the front foot and look like the team to score first even if that proves to not be the case) - there are players who aren't good enough or fit enough - Coleman, Gomes, Rondon for a start. There are players making basic errors.
This is a side that can't even hold Hull City for ONE MINUTE. Can't beat Huddersfield, QPR and Hull in 90 minutes. Hasn't won away except once all season. When are we, more importantly the club and its players GOING TO WAKE UP AND (the players) start performing?
