Cup finals etc were even more trying though for me anyhow, in particular 1986,I often wish we'd gone out in an earlier round!!I was 12 at the time, was in the lower bullens for that one. Cried all the way home. Another deep seated scar to help formulate my inner hatred for all things kopite. Stands me in good stead to this day lol
The 3 league cup final games in 77 should've been enough to scare me off as a 7yr old.Cup finals etc were even more trying though for me anyhow, in particular 1986,I often wish we'd gone out in an earlier round!!
You can tell they were wrong just by the graphic design choices they've made. Should've used a classic 80s stencil set.
At least you got the 80s success in your football supporting prime. I was a little one then, and grew up thinking Everton always won trophies, or at least got to the final most years. The 3 league cup final games in 77 should've been enough to scare me off as a 7yr old.
Alas...
It's like death by a thousand cuts being an Evertonian. I must be up in the 900s by now lol
I stayed to the end that day, when the fourth went in yesterday I was off!!
It was a horrible afternoon for this 13 year old blue, the only tiny consolation I've ever taken from it was that some of our players that day would be part of the success that followed over the coming years,so maybe a bit of a harsh lesson was learned against what was let's be honest,a formidable team. Even 86 (as horrible as it was)we were at least competing with them on equal terms. Far worse for me was our capitulation at Wembley to a team that contained the likes of Brad Jones and Jay Spearing, and the cup game the other year.I was 12 at the time, was in the lower bullens for that one. Cried all the way home. Another deep seated scar to help formulate my inner hatred for all things kopite. Stands me in good stead to this day lol
Up front alongside Peter CouchCushions?
What position did he play??
Double whammy runners up to that lot in League and Cup. Sickening. 1987 at least was some consolation, but bloody hell I never dreamed it would be our last title for 35 years and counting (yes I am including 21-22!)Cup finals etc were even more trying though for me anyhow, in particular 1986,I often wish we'd gone out in an earlier round!!
I was front row, bang centre of the park end stand, completely surrounded by the banjo pluckers.I was at that game. Had an amazing view of Glenn Keeley’s historic debut. From what I saw of yesterday’s goals, his spirit is with still with us.
Weird, first time I've ever heard a goal go in from outside Goodison,a big roar I'd convinced myself we'd pulled it back to 4-3,how can 1000 Watford fans across the other side of Goodison make that much noise? lolI was going down the steps when the 4th went in, half way down County Road for the 5th
Opened up another can of bad memories that TomThe 3 league cup final games in 77 should've been enough to scare me off as a 7yr old.

What a season that was to be a young blue,I was eleven, that trilogy alone was traumatic enough, then you add in the Treorchy terror at Maine RoadThe 3 league cup final games in 77 should've been enough to scare me off as a 7yr old.
