It was a major result in our winning the league
God knows how the game went ahead. It took my dad ages driving there through the snow. Then we got hot air blown through our arses in the Bob Lord stand.
Somehow we managed to win. Then I recall the Jacksons ABC playing on the radio in the car after the game. I always associate that day with that song. Happy happy days

I was in the same stand that hot air was welcoming on your ice cold feet all the mod cons in the Bob Lord stand;)
 
...good point. I will say, though, that the pitches then were far more sympathetic than now. I appreciate it was often muddy, but there was give. The pitches now are like bowling greens but they are firm 1inch below the surface. Ligament injuries are lots to do with the pitches, just like the modern boot is lots to do with foot injuries.
