I was in the then Goodison rd Paddock and dead level, Vernon was not offside, Young who, iirc, headed it back and across probably was. Tougher offside rules and strict interpretation did for us...that, injuries, poor form and no proper left back.
Post1969-70, If you were not on the top of your game...and we often weren't...they usually did. It would become obvious as the game went on that we could play all night and it wasn't going to go inHe was but had the game of his life that day.
post it then please... that clip would be nice to seeI was in the then Goodison rd Paddock and dead level, Vernon was not offside, Young who, iirc, headed it back and across probably was. Tougher offside rules and strict interpretation did for us...that, injuries, poor form and no proper left back.
When draw was made Catterick realised that Mick Meagan...who will tell you himself he was the slowest player in the team...was not going to have a good game Vs the flying Brazilian Jair. Rushed out and bought Sandy Brown...only to find he had been signed after the deadline.
If we could've played them in the previous May and not early Sept. I seriously believe would've seen them off no problem European Champions or no...small margins.
There is a 10 sec clip out there, I found it once by accident following the next and next and next etc 6 or 8 next up video suggestions...
