Hutch...who was in the form of his life and Ratters was making a decent fist of marking him...was niggling him physically and probably verbally too, all the match, the young inexperienced player fell for it. Only once though, stiff lesson, well learned.
Ratcliffe was never a good full back, really excelled as a co centre half to being brilliant.....
At the time Joey he was the up and coming young player, not quite ready to cement a longterm position, but good enough to fill in a number of positions. He even played at No.2 / RB as well as 3, 4, 5 and 6. Covering for Gidman, Bailey, B. Wright and Ross.
He turned out a superb player- I seen him in a Euro game he got sent off when he was young playing at full back so much so we lost the tie...
Tough one that. Did we ever play in all blue in the cup at Goodison? Only saying because it looks like a boys pen in the corner.
