15th April 1968 A lone goal from John Hurst is sufficient to sink Sheffield Wednesday a few weeks before our cup final v WBA - this game was such a dull affair - I was right behind this only goal of a drab game in the Gladwys street - My Uncle who was there with me stated we were saving ourselves for the big cup final game....... he had a ticket......

That was the only game my dearly departed dad and I attended together. He went into the Park End were he knew the Rovers fans would be and I went onto the Goodison Road terrace.
A largely undistinguished game, but the performance of Jim Cumbes in the Rovers goal kept the score down.
